My first pregnancy I had tons of BH, every night like clockwork for hours then they would go away. When I was actually in labor it was very different.

I had crazy contractions all the time starting about 22-23 weeks and actually was put off and on bedrest the rest of my pregnancy because my cervix was shortening, had to go to MFM all the time for ultrasounds, steroid shots, etc. So IDK if you call those BH contractions or not? I guess? Anyway, I ended up not going into real labor until 39w (maybe or maybe not due to bedrest, etc. who knows). My early contractions the day I went into labor (let's say the first hour) felt like my contractions all along and then got WAYYYY worse.

My contractions I had all during pregnancy were often times painful and uncomfortable and I had to breathe through them. Sometimes just painless tightening but usually like bad period cramps. Sometimes I would have them as frequently as every few minutes. It was pretty crappy but I'm thankful my baby didn't come early.

I had a gazillion Braxton Hicks starting really early (I think 25 weeks) with both pregnancies but with both, my water broke on its own and that's when labor actually started. My actual contractions were very different than Braxton Hicks.

Mine did. I was 35+6 days, but had been having contractions (every four to five minutes) off and on since the 33 week mark. They would come and go, but when I went to work the day I hit 35+6 days, I had contractions every 4-5 minutes that lasted more than two hours before my doctor had me go to the hospital. I was only 2cm dilated and there was no change from 2pm to 9:00pm and my doctor said that I wouldn't be going into labor that day. By 11:00pm I was in active labor and 7cm dilated. Baby was born four hours later.

When I went into labor with LO2, for the first 16 (!) hours I wasn't sure if it was BH or real labor. The contractions were as painful as my first labor ( aka very painful, had to stop what I was doing and breathe through them) but were always 5-10min and were not getting closer together. It took the full 16 hours before it was a full hour of 5min apart contractions. Hope yours don't go that route

Mine did not. They were frequent, very uncomfortable and timeable many times in the last month (both pregnancies), but real contractions for me were very painful.

I had false labor almost every night for the last two weeks of pregnancy (38,39) with my second. He came at 40+3 in about 5 hours of labor. It was super clear that that time was different.

It sucked having timeble contractions just fizzle out time and time again...

With #2 I had frequent Braxton hicks through out the second half of my pregnancy. I delivered at 38w 4d. Can't hurt to call anyway.

With my first, I had frequent, painful, often timeable Braxton hicks from 25 weeks on. Ten in an hour was not at all unusual. My Braxton hocks actually slowed way down before I went into labor. My water broke, suddenly, with only one painful and slightly different contraction as warning, at 40 +3. Baby was born 7 hours later.

@MommySLP: thanks! I figure the same thing about not stopping labor so I figured no sense bothering anyone! My money is on me going late anyway so three weeks early would certainly be a surprise.

@Cole: I'm just a few days behind you (36+4) and I woke up from a nap at 3pm with Braxton hicks. They've been on & off all afternoon & had lower back pain so I was a bit nervous but now after a hot shower & laying down they've finally stopped. I didn't call either---they wouldn't stop Labor at this point anyways. I still don't anticipate going early really. Good luck!!

I'm 99.9% sure I'm not actually in labor but I'm 37 weeks along and have had around 30 bh contractions in the last 3 hours. I am extremely well hydrated so I'm not concerned and therefore haven't bothered calling but I'm just curious if anyone went from lots of them to actual real contractions. With my first I started immediately with strong contractions and hit transition within 45 minutes so this is super different.
