We had two employees pregnant at the same time, one a first time mom and the other a second time mom. Even though the second time mom had received an office shower for her first, another employee insisted we had to throw her a shower because the other woman was getting a shower; it was just plain awkward because even the woman who was pregnant didn't feel a second shower was necessary. Then there was the year when 3 of us were getting married and HR felt it would be too much to ask of the employees. I had two work showers, one for each baby, two different working places... With my first, I was an RN at the hospital, and working with about 75+ healthcare professionals and staff on my unit and neighboring units, so I took home sooooo much stuff. My second shower was smaller because the office was smaller in employees, but i still took home a lot. Both times we had to send for messengers to pick up my gifts and deliver them home for me!</p> <p>I didn't want either shower though because I really, really hate being the center of attention. But I was definitely so thankful for all the work put into the showers and all the gifts!</p> <p>DH's firm... No showers, but they sent us a huge balloon/stuffed animal delivery and a Tiffany silver spoon after DD1 was born. DD2... I was on bedrest and out of the office for almost 7 weeks and on my first afternoon in on Tuesday the ladies had a shower for me. My secretary organize a luncheon, got cupcakes, decorated a conference room and they gifted us some toys, lots of books and a gift card. Oh and my secretary gave me a VS nightgown for *after*.
