For one, it just isn't his nature and personality. And for two, he prefers the toddler and older kid ages to little babies.</p> <p>DH and I agreed when we got married that there were certain things financially we wanted to reach before kids and a timeline for when we thought it was feasible for achieving that. I was freaking out because I was SO young, we were newlyweds, and I had so much I still wanted to do before kids. But we tried to do NFP and ended up getting soon anyway. When DD1 was 15 months I got baby fever BAD and convinced DH we were ready for another. Now DD2 is 9 months and I've been baby hungry since she was tiny. He's still not into the idea of another, but we're settling in a happy middle ground of ntnp. It's just not really in his nature. When we got married, we had a discussion about when we'd have kids and we just agreed on a year (2012). In 2011, I had HUGE baby fever and didn't really want to wait, but for other reasons, we had to. I spent the entire year talking about babies and how I was excited for us to start trying the following year. He pretty much just ignored me or was all "Uh huh" unenthusiastically, but that's just his personality. As soon as 2012 hit, I said "I'm throwing out my birth control!" and we started trying!</p> <p>I'd definitely start talking to your husband and just nail down a timeline. Then just stick with it, unless he obviously resistant. My husband was never excited about babies or TTC, but he knew the plan and actively participated in it, so I have to assume he was okay with! Plus he's great with our two kids, so I know it was the right thing for us. Then a few months before the wedding his "you're going to be pregnant at the wedding" mentality shifted to not being ready (probably the reality set in).</p> <p>We had an early loss (CP) a little over a month after the wedding after NTNP, and that both set us into trying mode. We're about to enter our third TWW, and both of us are just over the moon excited to have kids. I was 30 and we were married 8.5 years when DD was born. At 6 mo he told me her is ready for a second when I am and he often tells people that he would like 3 if I'm willing. I don't think you can really wait to try until DH has baby fever. He's really good with babies and likes holding friend/family babies, but it just does not make him want to have one! If not, how did you get them to agree to TTC?</p> <p>I feel like DH will never get baby fever, but I have had it bad for a while now. I know he wants kids, but I am thinking it will be really hard to actually get him to agree to TTC. I think he is afraid of all of the changes, especially the financial changes.</p> <p>We talk about having kids all the time, but we have never nailed down a timeline. It has always just been in a few years/in the future. I am turning 30 in the spring (DH will be 33), and I don't think DH realizes that we are starting to become limited on time since we want more than 1. </p> <p>Also, it took my parents 5 years to get pregnant with me, and I am their only child. That kind of worries me, but I have no real reason to think we will have trouble getting pregnant.</p> <p>I am not in a huge rush because our life is great right now, and we have some financial goals we are working on accomplishing. I would be ok with waiting until I am 32 to have our first. </p>
