I don't think she had much idea or she wouldn't have jumped on my stomach so much! She was pretty protective though and she is not very happy about the nursery. She peed on the rug the first night we put it in.

Our dog totally did! She kept trying to show DH, she would paw him and then walk over to me and whimper

My pug has absolutely no clue. All he knows is that it is annoying that I wake him up constantly at night so I can pee.

Our Golden Retriever, on the other hand, definitely knows that something is up. He has been SUPER protective. He follows me everywhere. He sat next to me in the bathroom the whole first trimester whenever I vomited. If I shut him out of the bedroom at night he sleeps right outside my bedroom door. It is pretty crazy. He also cuddles a lot more now with his head on my belly. I'm hoping he will continue the protective streak with LO gets here!

I'm wondering if our pup will start acting differently when she's about to be born. He definitely knew when I got pregnant and acted a little differently - more gentle and always wanting to be with me. Now he curls up wrapped around my belly and rubs his face against it, which is so sweet!

My dog is super protective of me now at 30 weeks. He sleeps right next to my tummy at night ( i joke that the baby tries to kick him away!) and wont leave my side when I am home. I kinda enjoy his extra attention though cuz he is DH's dog so is super loyal to him over me (DH has had him for 14 years!!) it has taken this dog like 5 years to acutally like me!!

My cat knows something is up. She's been pretty close to me all the pregnancy, but now, at 32 weeks, she doesn't stay far away. She even is right next to me at night time. But, she's been through this before, so she probably knows what to expect.

My other cat, is the opposite. He used to be more clingy to me, but now he's more independent from me. However, he's grown from kitten to cat in the past 5 months, so it could be just that he's a cat, lol.

My cat was acting weird when I had my MC. I believe some animals have that sixth since. My SIL's cats did the same when she was first pregnant & 3 days before she went into labor. They wouldn't leave her alone! The nursing home I worked in had a cat that predicted death. SO MAYBE your time is coming?!

Mine had no clue. We even did the whole bring a baby blanket home from the hospital thing so he'd get used to her scent..... But he kept looking at us like "why is she still here? What is that screaming thing? Take it back!" Total surprise.

@prettylizy: haha... well, my dog is pretty slow too (so, so cute... but so not bright). That's why I was totally skeptical when I heard people say this before.

I've heard people say that their dogs could tell when they were getting close to the baby's arrival. They knew something was changing or had some sort of intuition. I always thought that was a kind of silly notion, but as of today, I think I might believe it. My pup has been SUPER clingy all day. He won't leave me alone, and keeps crying when I'm too busy to sit with him. He's eating and using the bathroom fine, so I don't think he's sick. He keeps staring at me, and has been acting totally weird. It's freaking me out! haha.
