lo has started sleeping later most of the time, I think at first because I stopped nursing her--dh getting her and patting her back to sleep when she woke up at an ungodly early hour was a lot less exciting than me going in and nursing! And then she started sleeping even later again because she started staying up later this summer

at that age charlie was waking up between 4:30-5:30am. He definitely started waking up later as he got a little older than that. he also started daycare at 21 months, and he started waking up later after that!

We are lucky if my 3 year old sleeps until 6:30. She has always been an early riser. (To be fair we are also early risers, so she comes by it honestly, but I would not hate having the option to sleep in a bit, especially with an infant.) This weekend she slept until 730 one day (I did too) and I woke up in a panic thinking something was seriously wrong with her.

My kiddo due to our work hours was up very early to go to daycare. I have to be in between 6-6:30 and DH usually around 7ish. When he is gone she is up before 6am to start getting ready. It wasn't until around 2 that she started to sleep in more when she didn't have to get up so early.

My son is 3 and still typically wakes up between 5:30-6am. I've given up at this point.

My LO is never later than 6:30 and that is only if he's sick. It's usually 5:48 on the dot. I have a little hope once its darker but not much.

Yes...? We were getting barely 6am for a while too, and then she started doing 6:30-7 again. I wish it was even later, haha!

She is on one nap, which is a whole other issue. She'll nap 2-3 hours at daycare but fights a nap at home. I usually can get her to sleep 45 min - 1 hour on the weekends but sometimes just 30 minutes and she's falling asleep in the car if we go anywhere. This is a new thing, so I'm hoping it's a phase.

At least we're not alone!

Yes and no. At around 2, she started to sleep until 6:15. Then she started to sleep somewhere between 6:30 and 7. Heavenly! Then we took her out of the crib, and it went downhill for awhile. We had to get rid of her nap, so she goes to bed very early. Now we are back to between 5:45 and 6:15. I think she will always be this way until she gets older.

@emilye519: My daughter is going to be 3 next month and wakes up between 5:30 and 6, but for us that is sleeping in! We had almost a 2 year stretch where we considered it a good night if she made it past 5. So I would guess yours will start sleeping in too!

From what I remember of those sleep-deprived days, I think my daughter started sleeping in a little later when she dropped to one nap.

Yes! Also, there is an 18 month sleep regression that can cause early waking. It sucks but it does eventually just stop.
Also, I assume she's on one nap? If she's on two still (mine was till 18 months so you never know) early waking can mean she is ready for one nap.

Both of my kids woke before 6 as babies. DS1 started sleeping later a little after he turned 1-- meaning slept until 6. He slept til 630-7 once he was on one nap and could handle an 8/830 bedtime.

DS2 started sleeping til 7 once he was solidly on one nap and could go to bed at 8. That was around 16m.

DD is 19 months old now, and since I started back to work at 1 year old she has been consistently waking up between 5:30am - 6:00 am. Sometimes a little later and sometimes earlier 😭 It doesn't matter when she goes to bed or how much or little she sleeps the day before she's still up with the sun.

Is there any hope? Will she ever start to sleep later? Is there anything you did to help them start to sleep later?
