I think they asked if we had questions about buckling her up, but didn't look at the car. </p> <p>I was really glad we went to the fire station (actually after LO was born). She was sleeping in the carseat at the time but they still were able to inspect the base. It was part of the terms of being released and being able to take our LOs home. They couldn't tell us how to install it or fix it if it was installed incorrectly for liability purposes, but they did check it in our car before we could leave. No on the base, but they did give us a pamphlet to the carseat safety website so you can find a place/day to do this. In fact, in Portland where I live and if you deliver at any of the hospitals in the city, they won't let you take the baby home from the hospital in anything but an infant carseat. So if you plan on delivering at the hospital but purchased a convertible carseat for your car... You have to borrow an infant carseat in order to check out.
