@highwire: OMG M does this at school!!! She freaks out and tries to crawl directly into the baby in the mirror! She also has a new thing where she likes to crawl backwards directly into her real baby friends and try to sit on their laps. Baby friends do not appreciate this.

@PrincessBaby: Oh man do I feel your pain. My LO will be 10 months tomorrow and will not stop whining. I just said to my husband last night that I would almost rather he cry - the whining is like nails on a chalkboard to me! I can tell he wants to be mobile but just cannot figure it out. We call the flailing his "fish out of water" routine - just flops there and whines. Glad I am not the only one comforting myself with wine:)

Whine/wine-ville over here too for the same reasons. She does this pathetic Ba-ba-ba that gets increasingly whiney. She sounds like a hurt little lamb. But really not looking forward to her being able to move faster than she already does. World of trouble right outside of her reach for now.

I feel like LO was fairly frustrated with her physical progress until she started walking. It's like she could never move enough.

@PrincessBaby: we, too, are going through this!! LO so desperately wants to crawl and gets frustrated when she can't move despite her rocking and kicking. She's only 6 months and I am preparing myself to have to endure this stage for a while, ugh. She has also been incessantly grabbing at her ears, even in her sleep!! No ear infection either, and ped says babies frequently do that with their first few teeth because its a new sensation they've never experienced before. Greeat.

Yes! M just started crawling on Friday but the two weeks before she figured it out were the hardest we've had in a long time. She was just rocking back and forth on all fours and screaming. And getting four teeth at the same time. Now that she's mobile she's her usual dramababy self

I love the whine = wine (not that I was waiting for a reason!).

Yup! LO is now more mobile and even though he's not quite crawling, he can sit up and lie down and army crawl, but before he could do that, he would freak out when he was on his stomach and couldn't get back up and couldn't move forward.

All the time! She gets herself into her belly, kicks, squirms, gets on all fours to rock a bit, then plops down and whines because she didn't get anywhere. She will even stare at us as if she is wondering why we aren't helping her at all. We are going to be in so much trouble when she figures it out though!

Yes! He has been trying to crawl, falling on his belly then screaming and apparently forgetting he can roll after he falls. This has been going on for weeks. He also just got his first tooth and I think we have another coming in. Wahhh.

@TurtleDoves: @PrincessBaby: C was hanging out next to a mirror yesterday and I guess she got excited to see her baby "friend" right in front of her so she just flew head first right into the mirror....

Um. First of all, there's no one else there, that's you. And secondly, mirror or baby, perhaps it might hurt to go flying at them horns raised? Like a bull? No?

The last baby I nannied for got SO frustrated sometimes. She loved throwing her toys, but hated that she couldn't get to them. Occasionally she'd realize she could roll to them, and that was pretty darn cute!

The frustration won't end when she learns to crawl!
Just wait until they can crawl and they have terrible space conception. LO is starting to crawl and will crawl right into a couch and then CRY his eyes out. Um, didn't you see it there? Come on....
We will never win.

H will drag herself over to something she wants, or roll to it..But sometimes she sticks her but in the air and gets up on her arms like she wants to crawl SO bad, and when she cant, she lays on her tummy kicking her legs and flailing her arms, while screaming her face off. It seems like she's frustrated with herself.

Between that and teething pain (I think! She keeps grabbing her ears and crying and the dr said no ear infection), we are living in WhinerVille today! Population: 2!

Mama needs wine!!!

Did your LO do this when they realized they couldnt coordinate their body quite right?
