I think you're doing the right thing. I have no experience with egg allergies so I can't opine, but the hospital setting sounds like the right choice.

YES! DS got 104 fever 7 days after the shot but had no other symptoms, so the pedi said he was reacting to the shot. I felt so bad for him because even with Tylenol, his fever stayed pretty high for a day or two.

LO got a rash, fevered and was kinda sluggish but not till about a week afterwards. I was very worried that it was going change her permanently because she was just so different. She got over it and returned back to normal about a week later.

Absolutely not! I didn't even know this was a thing? I mean, sometimes I give tylenol after vax but usually I don't even think I need to.

My LO got her MMR vax the day before she started taking Augmentin. One week later, she had a horrible reaction to one of them (docs still don't know for sure which one it was). She ran a fever, and had a wicked rash over practically her entire body. Personally, I am leaning toward a reaction to the Augmentin, but I don't know for sure. It took her a couple of days to bounce back, but she didn't have any other issues outside of the fever (never higher than 101) and the rash (didn't seem to be itchy at all).

My first LO never had any reactions to vaccines. But my second did get a high fever after getting the MMR. She wasn't "sick" per se, it was an expected reaction from the vaccine, and we gave Tylenol to treat it, once it hit. It actually came about almost a week after the vaccine. It was gone in around 24 hours and she didn't seem too uncomfortable with it (since the Tylenol worked well, I think).

Here are the mild side effects as listed on CDC website:
Fever (up to 1 person out of 6)
Mild rash (about 1 person out of 20)
Swelling of glands in the cheeks or neck (about 1 person out of 75)
If these problems occur, it is usually within 7-12 days after the shot. They occur less often after the second dose.
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/side-effects.htm#mmr

^ You can see that some reactions take place 7-12 days after the vaccine. Hope they schedule you soon so there's enough time between the shot and your vacation! Also hope he doesn't have any reactions!

Surprisingly, LO did not have a reaction at all after her 12 month MMR vaccine. She spiked a low grade temp after her two month injections, and a high temp (103.4 F or 39.6 C) and projectile vomiting after her four month shots. We kept her on Tylenol for 24 hours after the six month to avoid a reaction there, but I was sure she'd react to the 12 month shots, especially given the reactions tend to occur 7-10 days afterwards. I wasn't going to drug her up for all that time obviously, but she never ended up spiking a fever or reacting in any way.

I am dragging my feet on her 18 month vax though as it's the Varicella and MMR combined. I just feel like two live vaccines at once is going to be a doozy for her...

We have had 0 issues with vaccines so far, and he's 21 months. He doesn't have an egg allergy, though, so I can't comment on that. I actually don't even remember them saying anything about egg allergies except for the flu shot, so they obviously didn't see it as something to worry about.

Note: This is not meant to be a debate on getting the vaccine. I'm curious if your LO got a fever or was sick after getting it.

LO's was supposed to get the MMR vaccine today, but because she's allergic to eggs, they've postponed it (again) so we can be at the hospital when they administer it.

I'm concerned with her getting sick, especially since we're going on vacation in a few weeks and if they can't manage to schedule us in soon, it might affect our travels. I don't want to be in a foreign country with a sick baby.
