My first one had a mild case, but was fine w/ some sunshine.

2nd little guy had to go back into the hospital for light therapy (out every 3 hours to nurse). We took him in for a blood test the day after we were released and he was readmitted. I got to stay with him, and they had me nurse, then pump, then syringe feed him whatever colostrum I got from pumping until my milk came in. It was exhausting, and I hated seeing him under those lights!

Thankfully, it only took about 24 hours for his levels to drop and he was released again.

My son had a touch of jaundice for a few weeks, but they didn't give him any treatment for it. They just told me to put him in the path of daylight from the window and it cleared up on it's own.

DD was fine, but DS had to be under the bililights for the first three days of his life, and we had to go back for blood tests until he was two weeks old. It was honestly the most miserable part of my postpartum experience; we were lucky enough to do in-room treatment and to be able to stay in l&d with him even after I was discharged, but it was still miserable. Apparently being RH negative increases the chances of jaundice, and so does our high elevation, so we may need to repeat our experience if we have a third child.

My son had a little bit of it but not bad. We were just told to give him some sunlight for 20-30 minutes a day. It was gone by the time we saw the ped again the following week.

Wagon Jr. was right below the threshold of needing the light treatments. He was fine within a week. I think the worst part was the heel stick blood test we had to have done a week later to make sure his levels were going down.

Most asian babies are born with it!

Yes :( We had issues with breastfeeding the first few days (she is still bf now @ 11 months though!) & she lost quite a bit of weight. Hers was pretty mild, but we still used a billy blanket to be safe. I hated taking her in to be poked :(

Yeah, she did, but apparently she's ok now. Poor baby had to have lots of blood tests in her early days though to monitor her jaundice levels :-(

Yes, not fun but it turned out just fine. He went to the bili light for 2 days at about 27 hours old. Our pediatrician warned us that he would probably need it since he had a gigantic bruise on his head from the birth. I was just glad we got it dealt with before we were discharged from the hospital.

It was so hard leaving him, but the nurses were excellent. They encouraged me to come back every 3 hours to breastfeed before we supplemented him with formula to get his system flushed out asap.

Since I got discharged a day before he did they let me crash in a "nesting room" so I could keep breastfeeding without having to drive back and forth. Once he was off the light we hung out in that room for most of the day so they could check his blood twice to make sure his levels stayed steady.

Mine had it but it never went high enough for the lights or other treatment. I just had to keep feeding him and giving him sunlight until the tests came back normal. It was stressful having to keep taking him in for the skin pricks.

She was a bit yellow the first week but nothing they said to worry about. She had plenty of pees and poos and was very alert so they didn't really say much about it except that if she starts looking really yellow or her eyes do to call the dr.

When LO was 1-2 days old, I noticed that her face was a bit jaundiced and as it turns out it was partly because of her crazy weight loss. But after a couple of days, she was okay again.

I always watched those baby story shows before having lo and it seems like lots of babies have jaundice. So naturally I was scared of that. Lo came out fine, but literally right before we left they said she had a little jaundice and to sit in front of an open window for a while every day. I loved that time that we had to snuggle and look out the window. By the time she had her first doctors apt she was all better.
