Mine also had her cord wrapped, causing decels. I had to wear an oxygen mask and they had an internal monitor attached to her head during labour. Everything was fine. I am surprised the doctors didnt mention this during your labour!

My LO had the cord around her neck. It caused issues during labor (decelerations) and LO had secondary apnea immediately after delivery, but everything resolved itself very quickly and no intervention was needed beyond the help of my OB and nurse who helped with delivery.

My little boy had his cord around his neck. The midwife actually had me stop pushing once his head was out so she could unwrap it and then I pushed the rest of him out. I actually didn't know it at the time because I was out of it but my husband did. He had and has no problems from it.

My DH had the cord wrapped 4 times around her neck and twice around her arms. I think this was why her heart beat kept dropping every time I had a contraction and in the end caused her to inhale meconium. They had to call a code pink on her but thank goodness she gave us a loud cry immediately after the code was called. She had to spend a week in the NICU to get antibiotics because of the meconium in her lungs.

Yep and tied in a knot. She was a scheduled c section so it wasn't a problem.

Yes and he was sunny side up! I barely remember it except them putting some kind of internal monitor on his scalp while he was in the birth canal because his HR was dropping.

Both DS & DD had the cord around their neck. DS was an "emergency" cesarean where the nuchal cord was one of the reasons I was given it was needed *rolls eyes* & DD was a successful vbac.

Like @Arden said, its incredibly common & RARELY an issue. I think I read it was like .15% of the time that a nuchal cord causes any issue.

Mine had hers wrapped twice. It's really normal, but I had no amniotic fluid, so it was constricting her neck instead of floating. She was born acidotic and with an APGAR of 1, so it caused her problems. For normal births it's no big.

The cord is wrapped around the neck in one out of every three births. It is EXTREMELY common, and usually does not cause any problems at all.

I always get so sad when I hear someone say "Thank GOD I had a c-section/hospital birth/whatever because the cord was wrapped around the neck and my baby could have DIED!" It's not an emergency situation, and it rarely causes an issue.

It was wrapped around his neck twice. Nothing was said to me directly, but DH, my mom and MIL all saw him come out, and it was noted in his birth records, which I saw at the hospital. It didn't cause any problems, though.

They didn't say anything and DH cut the cord himself so I'm assuming no? Now I'm going to ask him to make sure because it's not like I could see! Having his cord around his neck was one of my big fears during pregnancy.

That seems strange that they didn't tell you! Maybe it wasn't causing any problems so they didn't want to concern you?
Our cord wasn't wrapped, but it was really short- they had to cut I before I could hold LO.

I don't know if it's strange or not but DD's cord was wrapped around 2x and they told us. They said that DH could not cut the cord and that she had to get checked out by the NICU team right away. She was fine, though.

Lo is almost 6 months old, but I recently got access to the medical records from his delivery. The records indicate that he had the cord around his neck once, but neither DH nor I remember them ever saying anything about it. I know it's pretty common and not generally something to be worried about, but I thought it was really strange they never even mentioned it. They were concerned about his breathing when he was first born and called in the NICU transport team to check him out. They determined he was fine, but I wonder if the two were related.

Did your LO have the cord wrapped around their neck? Did it cause any problems?

E is perfectly healthy and fine, so I'm not concerned or anything... just thought it was strange they never mentioned it.
