yes, we did bc I felt that if we didn't people would think it was rude not to open the gift they bought him in person. it was fun!

We have opened presents at all three of older DD's birthays, but I don't think we will be doing that anymore and I don't think we will with our newest DD. It takes so much time, and DD didn't really seem to appreciate any of the gifts until we got home. It was more like "oh look, a shirt- oh look, a toy, oh look, this, that etc". She wasn't so excited because it's a little overwhelming and time consuming.

@runsyellowlites: That's what I'm a little worried about...people getting their feelings hurt is we don't do it! My DH's grandparents are coming and I could see that hurting their feelings. Not to mention, my super opinionated mom would think it was really weird!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Thanks for the link!

Still a little torn what to do...Might just make a decision day of :)

From what I've taken from kids birthdays.... guests like to show off the present they got for the birthday boy/girl so we definitely open them during the party AND if there are multiple outfits, etc then we be sure to pull out each thing & "show it off".

ETA: There have been times when we didn't show everything off or when things weren't opened & I heard back from little birdies about certain guests that had their feelings hurt or were upset about how it went down. After that I'm just always sure to open everything & take everything out/show it off.

Hi all! I haven't been to many childrens' parties and showers are much fresher in my memory. Do kiddos normally open presents while guests are there or wait until they leave? His party is next weekend and I want to do whatever is in good taste. I in no way want people to feel that a present was a requirement (I started to put no gifts on the invite but thought that might put some of my family off). Anyway, what did/will you do? For reference,it'llbe about 20 people, half being family.
