It was more like daaahga but he made that sound consistently when his dog was around. He started saying dada soon after. His EI said dada/doggie are much more common first words than mama. He's 13m now and only say mama when he's really upset. When did you feel that they actually knew what they were saying?</p> <p>Was dada or mama their first sound or did they make another sound first? </p> <p>I heard that it is more common for a child to make the D sound first but, actually, LO started saying mumumum at about 8 months old and only said dada today! 9.5 months!! Once she said it, she said it over and over, it was so cute!!! But her first sound was bababa - which she started saying at about 6.5 months. </p> <p>I don't think she associates any of the sounds with words, though!! :silly: </p>
