Both of mine slept in a cradle in our room for the first few weeks. That is the plan for number three as well. I do admit that DS also slept in a bouncer....inside the cradle for about 3-4 weeks.

K slept in a bassinet...its the same bassinet all babies in our family have used for years (checked for safety concerns). It worked nice. We had a few nights with some congestion where I opted for the rnp so she was a bit elevated.

@Foodnerd81: Yes, we had the jolly jumper stand (for our UB Vista bassinet) and it worked well. It's very lightweight and the "rails" made it slide backward and forward very easily on our thick shag rug. I just kept the bassinet at an angle to the bed so I could push it away or pull it close on its "tracks", if that makes sense.

Our bed is very high so the stand did not bring the bassinet up to the same height as the bed but that was fine. I could still lean over and scoop LO out of the bassinet easily enough (and I was a c-section mama).

Arms reach mini cosleeper with my first, and we have that set up plus rock n play for this next one. I liked the cosleeper and didn't have it attached to my bed, so we used it like a portable bassinet, bringing to living room during the day.

@stratosphere: did you have the jolly jumper stand for the UB bassinet? T was easy enough to push away from the bed or pull it closer? I need to take measurements and see how high our bed is and see if the stand will be close enough.

We used the Peg Pergro bassinet with the stand until she got too big for it around 4 months. After that she slept in the Lotus travel crib in our room for another month. We moved her to the crib in the nursery around 5 months when I went back to work

Rock n play for maybe a month, then the arms reach mini cosleeper until 4 months. I still keep it in our room (LO is 6.5 months as a safe place to put her while I shower). And a place to store folded laundry until I get around to it. And a cat bed. Ha. The Rock and play was ok for the very early stages but it concerned me how scrunched up she would get especially when swaddled and I was a little paranoid about the flat head thing (which was a non issue)

UB Vista bassinet. Sometimes on the floor, other times the whole stroller came in the room. He broke out of swaddling early and would wake himself up hitting the sides around 10 weeks so we moved him to the crib at that point.

I was anticipating a whole "transition" but the first time he laid down he stretched way out and fell asleep. Too bad it didn't stay that easy...

Bassinet with wheels. The portability was nice. My mom watched her a couple times at night to give me a break and we could wheel it into the nursery (where my mom slept) and it's be a familiar spot. We also were able to transition her by moving the bassinet further from the bed over time before moving her to her crib. We also would move her to one side of the bed or the other depending on who was going to deal with MOTN wake ups. I'm a very light sleeper so this helped me a lot. Oh yeah, and it could be rocked.

We used the UB Vista bassinet until LO outgrew it around 4 months. It was ideal! We had it in a rocking bassinet stand that made it easy to pull right next to the bed or push further away to have room to get out of bed. It was great to be able to take her out for a stroll and back inside the house, all in her bed!
