Agree with others saying that's too high for teething, our doc said anything over 100 is not teething. LO usually sat around 99 when teething.

Thanks all for the info about teething and fevers. Definitely good to know!

@Espion: He just got over his first ear infection before Christmas, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it is back/never fully gone. The nurse practitioner we saw to recheck his ears thought there was still a little fluid trapped. I wonder if that could lead to another infection.

@ellewoods84: My mom said this is the age that all four of us kids got roseola. I'll be on the lookout for a rash. His fever broke around 4 am and he slept till 8. He's not feverish at all now. I'll have to look up roseola and see if that could be consistent with that. Thanks!

Just wanted to share that about a month ago, O had a fever of around 102, with Tylenol bringing it down to around 100. She was super grouchy, sleep was crap, but no symptoms of a sickness or anything. We brought her to the ped and they tested for UTI and ear infection, but nope. So they suspected roseola. Sure enough, a couple days later the fever broke and she had a rash. I had read that usually babies with roseola have a higher temp, but she didn't and her rash was pretty mild. Sooo just something to think about! She only has 2 teeth, but hasnt had a fever with either of those.

@Espion: this.

Anything over 100.4 is not due to teething. In would guess he's got a little virus! Hope he feels better

Ds1 got a low fever once with teething. But I think it was actually caused by the ear infection that came along with it. He had tons of drooling and a runny nose.

It's actually an old wives tale that teething causes fevers, because it actually doesn't. (I was surprised to learn this, because it seemed like dogma.) When E spiked a temp that persisted, he turned out to have an ear infection. Upper respiratory tract stuff is going around too. I hope he feels better soon!

How high was it? Blake woke up from a nap yesterday afternoon and seemed pretty irritable. While nursing him in the evening I noticed he seemed really warm and his temp was 101.4. Tylenol has brought it down to 100 but it keeps going back up about 2 hours after a dose. Other than being super grouchy he doesn't seem sick (no sniffles, coughing, etc). I'm wondering if this could be teething related? He won't let us get anywhere near his mouth so I can't feel his gums. I do plan to call the ped in the morning, but it's 3:30 am right now and we're just hanging out downstairs because he will.not.sleep and he keeps waking up DD with his crying upstairs. Just curious about others' experience with teething and fevers!

ETA: You know you're tired when you almost put this post in "Baby Fever," because you know, my baby has a fever.
