@regberadaisy: Our hospital doesn't allow children unless they are the new baby's siblings.

I would want my lO to come in first thing in the AM!! Basically, when I've gotten a rest and a shower so I dont look too weak and scare the poor kid.
I would want to take pictures and all that & honesty, I can't imagine going 3 days without seeing my babe.

I would want M to meet little brother or sister before we bring him/her home. But I'm not sure if my hospital allows children visitors?

DD came to the hospital with my parents when DS was born. She was 3.. It was really great to have her there for a short visit and she didn't even really realize what was going on. She had some gifts to play with too and I got to have some hugs. I was glad that we did that.

Yep, and I'm so glad she did! We denied visitors the night we had DS, and DH got up early the next morning to go get DD. We wanted her to be the first person to meet her baby brother. I was hoping to have a very short hospital stay, but DS was badly jaundiced, so we needed to stay for three extra days. DD would come visit in the morning, and then leave for lunch and her afternoon nap. I'm so glad she came every day because I missed her terribly; I also hated staying in the hospital, and she brightened my days and made my stay more tolerable.

Eta: DD was 21 months at the time and she was not scared at all. In fact, she thought the hospital was awesome! The nurses gave her stickers and there lots of lights and buttons. She had a blast!

I only have one LO, but I always thought I'd want LO to be there when I have baby #2 but now I'm having second thoughts. LO is so attached to me and she'll want me to get up and run around with her, something I can't really do after childbirth. And she's very very jealous, she cries if I hold another baby. Hopefully by the time I do have baby #2 these things will change.

I only have one LO so far but our nephew came to visit when we were still in the hospital. He wasn't scared, he actually liked seeing the baby. He's about to get a new baby sister in a couple of weeks but I'm unsure if they're planning on taking him to the hospital to visit. I hope to have LO visit us, though, if we have another baby.

He was with us at the hospital the whole time. My mom was there and took him out of the room while I pushed, but he came right back in as soon as his brother was born. He was 2.5 at the time and not scared at all (we also took him to our midwife appointments so he'd get use to them messing with me).

Yes, he loved coming. The hospital gave him a special "big brother" badge and we let him watch the TV a little. He kept wanting to touch all the machines though! Anyways it was good for him to meet his new sis on neutral ground I think!

My MIL and SIL/BIL will be watching LO while I'm at the hospital after my C-section. I'm not sure if I want them to bring her to visit.... I'm going to miss her like crazy but I don't want her to get scared.
