My LO cried a lot the first few days, and then we figured out that the dairy I was eating was affecting her and making her gassy. Hang in there it does get better. Forget about laundry, dishes and visitors. our little guy decided he didnt want to sleep from midnight to 3am...but it passed. Our first week was very rough. I was so afraid to even close my eyes because I knew she'd wake up as soon as I did so. She definitely cried a lot. I kept going to sites like this to see if it was normal too. Luckily I found comfort in knowing that it is very common. Honestly, I think she didn't stop beig a fussy gussy until about 3 months, but not every baby is the same. There is also a DVD you can rent on Netflix. The techniques really help with crying babies. Cried and cried. We also had to supplement with formula when we first brought her home because my milk didn't come in. And, as it turned out, she was tongue-tied and couldn't latch. She also has reflux so she would cry because of belly aches, and didn't nap well because of that too.
