I've noticed this too! When he wants me, he cries "Maa" which I think is only a coincidence in its similarity to "Mama." I've noticed some others too! He has a specific way of cooing to DH and to I, that is distinctly different.

A definitely has distinct cries. It's fairly easy to tell what he wants, thank goodness!

It's not crazy, we've seen similar patterns with our 3 week old. We watched Dunstan baby language and learned about the different cries/sounds and what they typically mean. Her hungry sound is also "neh" and she has very distinct sounds for when she's gassy or needs to be burped and a sound for when she wants me to pick her up and hold her. When we first watched the video I thought it was a little crazy, but we started paying closer attention and realized that for us it was working, especially when she's gassy and uncomfortable.

Have you seen this? I think she does describe the hungry cry as neh!

I know this might sound a little crazy, but I think my two month old is talking. Not in English or Albanian (the two languages we speak to her in), but in her own baby language. From her first week I started noticing a specific cry when she was hungry that sounded like "neh".
Over time she has developed distinct names for other things, and I'm beginning to understand her "words".

I'm "ahwoo". It's clear and distinct and the same every time she calls for me. DH is "bwah". Her wubbanub monkey/pacifier is "Eggeh".

I've tested my theory, handing everything except "Eggeh", including other pacifiers, when she's asking for it. Nothing makes her happy until I give her Eggeh and then she grabs him and is satisfied.

Am I losing it, or does my baby have language?!
