No, but I wonder if the reason for the NICU stay matters.

The hospital that E was born at doesn't follow up what so ever. The hospital I am having this next one at has a yearly NICU picnic.

LO has had follow up visits with specialists he saw while in the NICU, but no follow up from the NICU itself.

The only other follow up we have had are twice yearly reminders from our state to have LO's hearing checked. He has several risk factors for hearing loss and his extended NICU stay is one of them.

Other than that no follow up.

But, our local hospital does have a day twice a year where babies come back and put a handprint or footprint on the wall so we got to say hi to one of the nurses who cared for him during his first few days. That was special.

ETA my son was not a preemie so maybe that changes things

My NICU had 6 and 9 month follow up call. Since they had torticollis, the babies have been doing weekly physical therapy at the same clinic that does NICU follow-ups. DS graduated from PT today. DD will be assessed next week. The PT mentioned that not all nicu follow up or check in on NICU patients after discharge. I was surprised to hear that.

If both babies do graduate from PT, the PT recommended coming back in before preschool to check on things. I think that is a great idea to be ahead of any issues.
