I like that at this place your appointment is with a specific doctor and you stay with that doctor, like I assume it should be! I was assured that my next appointment would be with my OB. The NP was nice and all, it just wasn't what I was expecting. When we were TTC, I even saw her after 6 months of trying without luck! My OB is in a practice with 4 other ladies, but I always see her unless she's out. My very first visit (6 weeks) was with a nurse and was just informational to get my history and instruct me on the Do's and Don'ts and draw a bunch of blood. Kind of like the overworked PCP! I saw that as soon as she left my room she knocked on another door. I agree that it doesn't have to take more than an extra minute to skim my due date and any complications and could prevent so many mistakes. Not sure they'd change any of that for me since they're run by a managed healthcare group that I know to be very profit-oriented, so if had a conversation with them it would probably be on my way out. I saw a doctor at every visit - never a nurse practitioner - and a specialist OB for a second opinion on my blood pressure/kidney function at the beginning and again toward the end to discuss a possible induction. I had a frank conversation with my ordontist about the lack of professionalism in his office- techs yapping with each other, long waits and issues I have with him. The least people can do is review your file. You wait long enough at a doctor's office a few more minutes won't hurt. Even DH who came with me today was surprised that they kept asking me the same questions that they got the answers to in the intake and didn't need to be asked again - "Do you have a job?" "When is your due date?" So weird. I usually see my OB's PA everytime. I've seen my OB once. But I'm very low risk and my appointments are seriously like "Everything good? Any questions? Okay see you in a month." Uneventful. So I don't mind. I really like the PA. Last time I was scheduled to see my OB and he had to leave for a delivery and I saw his nurse practitioner. That sucked kind of because I was looking forward to checking in with him. It's only going to get more annoying to deal with :/ You do not need additional drama from your OB office while trying to have a baby! They should be able to guarantee one of their doctors. Maybe not your main OB but at least one in the practice. There are three OB's and four midwives though. Maybe you could request to be seen by the same OB from here on out...? At the end of my pregnancy (once I found out I had a cord abnormality) I requested to be seen by only my favorite OB.
