I doubt I'll want a cervical check at any point--it's too much of a mind game--so that works for me! They don't even offer them and I'm not sure they would do one without medical justification if requested. My first was when I was in labour and showed up at the hospital to deliver our baby. If we don't have our next LO in Australia, I will be declining any cervical checks that are offered as I find them unnecessary and uncomfortable. She's been very clear that progress doesn't mean labor and that she doesn't plan on making any predictions after each appointment. So that is keeping me from reading too much into them. I've known tons of moms that just end up frustrated because they'll make progress, then stop, or make lots of progress (like 4 cm) and then go overdue. She gave me the choice though and I wanted to know. Do you not have a choice? I've heard that some drs don't do cervical checks until labor. I haven't decided if I like it or not that my OB does (do I want to know about my progression or lack thereof?)
