I went to a babysitter until I was in grade 3, but after that I stayed home alone all the time, even in the evenings sometimes.</p> <p>When I was in high school my parents would leave on vacation for a week at least once a year and I would be all by myself for the whole week. The first time I remember being home alone for a longer period of time was in 8th grade. My little brother had a hockey tournament about 7 hours away and I couldn't go because I had a ski meet that weekend so my parents just left me. No one checked in on me, but my grandparents did live in the same town if I did need something. I know I was in high school the first time they left us alone while they went away. My brother is a year older &amp; he was there too. Neither if us could drive yet though. My grandma stopped by a few times to check in on us. They just let us stay home and had our neighbors and friends check in on us a lot!
