It drove my mom bonkers. I had a phone in my room, but my parents refused to have a second line/call waiting installed, so periodically they would pick up the downstairs line and tell me to get off so other people could call. He figured out that you if you buy a telephone jack splitter and take the cord and plug both ends into the splitter, the phones at home wouldn't work at all. So we couldn't get any incoming calls at night because my dad would disconnect the phones at 10pm every night.</p> <p>He also figured out that if you plug in the handset directly into the wall instead of the phone, you could listen in on a conversation without the phone making a sound!</p> <p>My dad did lots of crazy things like that!</p> <p>Did your parents limit your phone usage growing up? </p>
