they didn't intend to... but all of us younger sibs viewed my older sis as the favorite... I still think she was. But everyone denies it... except for me and my brother.

my husband is totally his mom's favorite too.

I'm a typical bitter second child. My older brother got everything new (walkman, boombox, computer, etc) and I got his old one when he upgraded to a new one, and usually by then something about it was broken. He got to go to an expensive private school for high school and I wasn't given that choice (and hated high school in my public school). He got to go to college wherever he wanted and I wasn't allowed to even apply anywhere that was more than a 2 hour drive from home (although I think this was a boy/girl difference rather than first child / second child). My parents gave my brother an old car that they had, which I was pretty jealous of, but then they put a big down payment down for my first car. (But then I had a car payment to take care of on my own. And then I sold it to pay for half of our wedding.)

Typical stuff for a second child, I think... and since I grew up this way and Wagon Sr. was only 15 months older than his brother (so they were basically treated like twins), we will always make sure that LMW gets all the same opportunities as WJ. Sometimes we realize we didn't do something for LMW this time around, but we try to make up for it in different ways. (i.e. we took so many more pictures of WJ when he was a baby, but we splurged on a newborn portrait package at the hospital for LMW because we anticipated us having less time to snap good photos of her. We didn't even consider getting the portrait package for WJ!)

I didn't think so, but I'm pretty sure that not all of the other kids would agree!

Did your parents play favorites with the kids when growing up? Has your parents' parenting impacted how you plan to raise your own kids?
