A bedtime story was always part of our bedtime routine. I always loved walking to the library with my Dad to pick out new books. My dad would wake me up every morning by reading to me. I disagree that it doesn't matter--I often wonder about my students who dislike reading/aren't strong readers and how they could have benefited from parents who read to them from a young age. I guess I'm trying to say that while of course not all intelligent people were read to as children, it still matters a great deal! I would climb in her lap and make her read all of the books she had for me at her house over and over again. Reading is something special the two of us still share.
