I know I was a really good sleeper so it wasn't necessary for me but I know my mom is 100% A-OK with CIO so I guarantee she did it in some fashion for my brothers.

They didn't have a name for it, but yes. They are in their mid-60's, for reference.

No clue but considering my mom tried to tell me let DD CIO at a week old, I'm guessing yes.

Not at all. My parents thought I was cruel for doing it to my LO, but at the same time they're amazed that he STTN. lol. I guess I wasn't a good sleeper?
I don't remember ever having a set bedtime either, so I think I'm quite different than my parents, at least in the sleep department.

Neither of our parents did. I'm a light sleeper but it's possible I have a bit of apnea, based on an x Ray that my dentist did that showed a blockage. Dh is a deep sleeper.

No. They said I the slept really well. But, I don't think they were strict with bedtime, naps, etc. I know my parents worked long hours, and came home late, and I was given a bath after they come. Maybe not obsessing over sleep is the key?

I don't think they used any formal method, but I'm pretty sure they let us all CIO.

Nope. They said I frequently ended up in bed with them and didn't sttn till a year. I thought that was bad until I had DD (who took till 20 mo).

Mine didn't but DH's family did (we were late-80s babies).

We actually both have sleep issues but have opposite problems - he can go to sleep but can't stay asleep while I can't get to sleep but once asleep have no problem staying asleep. So far my LO sleeps like her father but she's only 7months old so it's early days.

I think half the stuff we have names for now, weren't really a 'thing' back then.... Sleep training,
BLW... Etc. I'm sure my parents did it in some form, although I doubt it was as big a thing as it is now.

No they did not. But I apparently STTN fairly early on and my brother was teeny at birth and just lived attached to my mom's boob all night to get his weight up.

Culturally they didn't do nap training or bedtimes - they just figured we would sleep when we were tired and wake up when we wanted to. Even as a school age kid I didn't have asset bedtime - we were just all expected to go to bed when my parents went to sleep, between 9-10pm? Seems super late to me now as a mom. But I'm a sleep training schedule mama all the way!

My parents claim that they didn't have to sleep train us. We just slept through the night by a few months old. That said, they didn't nap us all that much! Maybe my mom put us down 2-3 naps as little babies....of course we were welcome to fall asleep on our own!

My MIL did sleep train my husband though! He was a terrible sleeper woke hourly to nurse and finally at 6 months she had had it and read "Dr. Spock" and let him cry. He cried for 45 minutes the first night and that was it!

Sleep training seems very generational. I don't know many people of my parents generation (age 60+) that did it. Do you?
