I'm a light sleeper but it's possible I have a bit of apnea, based on an x Ray that my dentist did that showed a blockage. But, I don't think they were strict with bedtime, naps, etc. I know my parents worked long hours, and came home late, and I was given a bath after they come. But I apparently STTN fairly early on and my brother was teeny at birth and just lived attached to my mom's boob all night to get his weight up.</p> <p>Culturally they didn't do nap training or bedtimes - they just figured we would sleep when we were tired and wake up when we wanted to. Even as a school age kid I didn't have asset bedtime - we were just all expected to go to bed when my parents went to sleep, between 9-10pm? Seems super late to me now as a mom. We just slept through the night by a few months old. That said, they didn't nap us all that much! Maybe my mom put us down 2-3 naps as little babies....of course we were welcome to fall asleep on our own!</p> <p>My MIL did sleep train my husband though! He was a terrible sleeper woke hourly to nurse and finally at 6 months she had had it and read "Dr. Spock" and let him cry. He cried for 45 minutes the first night and that was it!</p> <p>Sleep training seems very generational. I don't know many people of my parents generation (age 60+) that did it. Do you? </p>
