My mom is a teacher, and I know she must have. Moreso when we were younger. I remember once waking up and everything in our house- EVERYTHING- was labeled. It was probably more for my sister (I could read all of them! I know she was still learning.) But I remember realizing then that it was helpful to bringing learning home.

Some workbooks and such near the end of summer a few years. And they practised reading and math with us as well.

I just read. I'd take out 20+ books a week and just read them all. And I was only allowed so many "trash" (saddle club anyone?) vs actual books.

Other than that, lots of museums and trips to plays and ballets and musicals. We also played the violin and listened to a lot of classical & fiddle. Always played at least 1 sport.

My sister needed a wack load more intervention that I did, so my mom gave a lot more focus towards her.

not really. We went to fun places like Plymouth Plantation and museums, but never anything else. For example I didn't know prep courses for the SAT's existed.... Oops. I wish they had been stricter, even though at the time I thought it was awesome. Oops again.

They did, but not really for science or math. We traveled a lot, so that was extra helpful in supplementing my education as a child.

Nope but I was a big nerd on my own and we spent a lot of time at the library. Otherwise I was playing!

Yep, we had extra homework all year long and during the summer. She'd buy little textbooks and have us work through them. I wasn't really a fan, although I'm sure it did help! I've been debating on whether to do the same with LO, although since I will be a WOHM, It'll be more along the lines of sending her to an educational camp and taking her to museums/cultural activities, which I think are just as educational!

Not so much with textbooks or flash cards, but mom always took me to the library & we went to lots of museums, historical sites and zoos. I loved it!!

I did Kumon (also hated it) and went to a summer program similar to CTY for a few years. But as much as my parents emphasized academics, I spent most of my non-classroom time playing sports! Thank goodness because I would have gone crazy being more holed up with books.

Not too much. I had a tutor to get me through the exam, essay, and interview for my high school and I took SAT prep. I think that's about it.

I definitely want to supplement for my LO but not with books necessarily. There are so many things to learn outside of a textbook. I want them to learn a lot of things from being outdoors, traveling, etc.

Yes, I did Kumon math (hated it) and always got us flashcards and games from the teacher store. A lot of them I still have and use in my own classroom!

We did a lot of supplementary education... we'd buy extra textbooks, make flashcards, and do projects. We thought it was a lot of fun! Plus it really helped me in school... I definitely want to get the kids hooked on learning!! We'll see how it goes...
