I know my dad had a hot temper, so he may have yelled more when we were younger. Both my parents say they think when as a parent you are yelling at a child, you’ve lost control of the situation, which I agree with. They're both quiet and soft-spoken people, though. Quiet voices were much scarier to me, and still are. Yelling makes me think the adult is losing control of the situation. </p> <p>I'd like to follow the rules my parents/grandparents grew up with: no yelling/screaming at kids, and no spanking/physical punishment except for the most severe cases.
