My first clearly dropped about 48 hours before he was bone. Number two just hung out in my pelvis for 5 weeks, I felt like i couldn't sit down he was so low. Both came at 40+3.

My water broke so i was induced at 40wk with my first and he never dropped down. My second dropped around 30wks - like my bump was visibly lower and i could feel the difference. I was induced at 41wks.

Nope. I was induced at 42 with my first and second came without induction at 39+6. My bump looked the same throughout both pregnancies.

ETA: neither dropped before labour. I never had that bowling ball in my crotch feeling. So even if it’s not impending labour, it’s a good sign and things will be easier/quicker whenever it does happen.

Oh yes he sure did. I think it was like 37 weeks, it was noticeable to everyone and it felt like a bowling ball was lodged low in my pelvis (good times). OB said he was station 2 (I think?) and to be ready for him before the due date.

Fast forward to 40+5 and nothing. Eventually had to induce for borderline high BP.

But you just never know! I’d be ready but not have a strong expectation either way. Thinking he’d be early made me feel super overdue on my due date!

Super super helpful, thank you! First arrived at 40+3 but was higher all along and definitely didn’t drop until 38 or later.

We haven’t decided on a name or gotten the car seats out, so just having a bit of an “oh shoot” moment! I’d be fine to go to 38 or later... 36 and change is too early!

Mine didn't but my first didn't either... I have super narrow hips and carry high.

My #2 (DS) dropped around 37 weeks. I thought he was going to come before my scheduled c-section ... Alas, he did not. Everyone is different, though, so a drop for me did not indicate DS was ready to emerge; however, a drop for you may mean a beautiful baby in 1-2 weeks.

Same as @bhbee, I didn’t feel like I dropped as much as I was just super low for a really long time. It was definitely uncomfortable, but I did end up going the full 40 weeks.

I’m not sure any of my 3 dropped! So I probably am not the best person to answer :silly: I do think it’s common as you have more babies for them to just feel lower and put crazy pressure down there. And be like 3cm dilated for weeks. So anything is possible but assuming you did not go early with #1 I’d be prepared to stay pregnant and uncomfortable a while!

I had heard over and over that your second likely wouldn’t drop as early/as much, since your body was more ready. However! This second one definitely did in the last 36hours or so, and now I’m not sure if that’s a labor warning sign.

I’m about 36.5 weeks with #2, and would be happy for baby to come before 40, but... should I be ready for this week?? Did your second drop just before labor, way in advance, or not really at all?
