I had assumed that he would and we never discussed it.</p> <p>When it came time to do it they asked him and he cut it. I think he is glad that he did. He also was sure he didn't want to watch everything "down there." All that went out the window during labor. He watched everything and loves describing it in detail. He was also super proud to cut the cord. </p> <p> A few months after LO was born I asked him if he realized the cord had already been cut since they did the "cord cutting" across the room after they checked LO for meconium aspiration. He hadn't realized that and I think I stole some of his thunder. Where he's from, men still don't usually stay by their wives throughout L&amp;D, they stay in the waiting room. DH initially said he was going to stay by my head and not watch what was going on down below, but ended up being fascinated and watching the whole thing. Mr. Hedgie said it was amazing and so meaningful and important to him. It was his way of helping being her into the world. He supported me through pregnancy and labor and was able to watch her be born (not what I expected him to want to do) but that was his way of physically birthing participating.
