@Dandelion: @ShootingStar: makes a great point, I was sent to L&D twice and hospitalized once overnight and it was scary.
The time I was hospitalized, I couldn't get in touch with DH (he was teaching inside a classroom) for a few hours.

DH came to two I think. I had GD, so had to go to them starting at 34 weeks. A couple happened to be on his day off so he came with me. They were mostly boring, but one of the days we were there we had a nurse who was super chatty, and gave us lots of good info - better than the childbirth class we paid $$ for. It was nice to have company, but I also liked to spend the time playing with my phone, or just listening to the heartbeat and napping once I'd done enough kick counts.

@Dandelion: Are you starting at 35 weeks? If you're anything like me it'll just be routine and easy. It wasn't until I started having high blood pressure that they got concerned.

I forgot to mention it was easy for DH to go to some of them for fun because the hospital was 5 minutes from his office.

@ShootingStar: that's my main reason for thinking he should go...in case they want to send me on to the hospital.

I guess I'll just leave it up to him though. Seems mean to make him just sit for 45 min.

At first he came to just a couple. He was kinda jealous when I sent him a little video of listening to the heartbeat. He loved using our doppler so it was cool for him to go to the NSTs. But of course he had to work too. After I got put on bed rest he came to them so that he could drive me, and because we were warned that at any time they might keep me.

@Dandelion: Nope. Mine were twice a week with BPP ultrasounds, took a long time. My best friend came to a few to keep me company, otherwise I brought the iPad.

My NSTs didn't take too long, maybe about 45 minutes? DH came to all of them. One NST was because baby stopped moving, the remaining were because I was overdue and not progressing naturally. I just sat there and drank water. DH came because his work schedule was very flexible.

Starting next week, I'll have to go twice a week for non stress tests. I know it takes a little while. Just wondering if I should be encouraging DH to come or let him sit it out. I'm sure it'll probably be mostly boring.

Maybe he can come to a few of them, just to keep me company.
