He left really late in the evening and came back early in the morning. My firstborn was with his aunt though and they came and visited when LO2 was about 20-22 hours old. It was fine, we got to enjoy some bonding time (around 9-10hours or so) with LO2 but he was able to sleep in his own bed.

He brought me dinner after delivery (at midnight) and went home to bed. I preferred that, it was nice to be in a quiet room with the new baby. I savored the crap out of having him all to myself!

He actually only stayed with me for the first night with our oldest, the next few nights (NICU) he slept at home since our dog wasn't handling the separation well.

Our plan was for DH to stay with me during the day and go home to E in the evening to get her ready for bed and stay with her overnight since we had no family nearby and were relying on friends to watch her. Had we had grandparents watching her, our plan might have been different.

That being said though, it was all for naught as I felt amazing after giving birth and was able to go home only four hours after LO2 was born! Eight hours total in hospital - I loved it and would do it again in a second.

He stayed with me and H, but he went home to shower everyday, feed the dogs, and give Char her bath and tuck her in. So he left around 5p and would come back around 8p. It was a nice balance.

With LO#1, DH stayed with me the entire time. While it was nice being able to bond as a family of 3, he complained A LOT about the convertible bed not being comfortable, the limited cable channels available, the food, etc. He sort of drive me nuts!

With LO#2, DH stayed home with our daughter and my mom stayed with me in the hospital (2 nights - my doctor required it). She was amazing and I felt like it was a really special mother-daughter experience. She never complained once about anything and was always running to get me water, food, or whatever else I needed. I was in a ton of pain, and it was very comforting to have her there with me. No way would I have wanted to be alone - I definitely needed the moral support. She lives across the country, so it was nice that we had a lot of time to talk, snuggle the baby, and catch up on trashy tv (The Bachelorette). DH and DD#1 had special time at home and came to visit everyday. DH brought me flowers, balloons, and a surprise Ergo360. It worked out perfectly in my opinion!

We are still trying to figure this out. #2 is due in 2 weeks. We don't have any family locally. We have a friend who will come over if I go into labor in the middle of the night, but she has a family of her own and cannot watch our daughter for multiple nights in a row. I think I will probably send DH home to be with LO#1 at night just because of logistics and to make the experience less traumatic for her.

I had a repeat c-section. My mom came in from out of state to stay with my 4 year old so that my husband could stay with me at the hospital. I was there Monday-Thursday. My daughter had a great time with her Mimi. They came to the hospital daily to hang out and visit with us and the new baby. I was adamant about my husband being at the hospital with me and the baby, just like he was when our first child was born.

He went home to be with DS. When #1 was born he went home too(except the first night). He couldn't get comfortable, and wasn't sleeping and keeping me awake. I told him to go home and sleep. We both slept much better. So with #2, we didn't even entertain the idea of him staying at the hospital. Plus we wanted him to be home with #1 at night, and be there in the morning when we woke.

If we stay two nights, I want him to stay the first night and then go home with LO1 the second night. I'd have my mom stay with me, and then both DH and I would get more sleep and be more ready when we take LO home.

If LO is born early enough in the day that I think we'll only stay one night, I think he'll stay with me. But my little guy spends 1 night ever week or two with my parents, so he won't have any trouble being away from us, it's just what's easiest on us (DH gets absolutely no paternity leave).

If we have another - we get a family suite, so he and LO 1 will probably both be at the hospital with me unless they need to go, we don't have help. Otherwise I might not stay, I really didn't enjoy my short stay after delivery!

DH will stay with me, but it won't be LOs first time without us. We've now been on three trips without LO while one of our parents came from OOT to watch her.

My mom is coming 1.5 weeks before my due date. If I go WAY earlier, our plan B is to have a married-couple-friend-duo watch LO for 8 hours while DHs parents drive from Canada to take over. She's a daycare baby and pretty good with other people she knows watching her.

we will see what happens, but I would actually want him to go home. I plan on sending LO2 to the nursery for a little bit this time around, and last time, DH barely got any sleep due to LO1 being up all night and the horribly uncomfortable sleeper chair. I'd rather he be rested so he can be more hands on with LO1 when we get home.

No he did not. The plan was to feel it out. My sister was watching DD for us. I had DS at 5 am and we had been up all night so I sent DH home to get some rest that afternoon. I ended up calling him around 2 or 3 am asking him to come help me because I was so exhausted and still had not really gotten any sleep. He had come down with a bug/flu and so I had to to it by myself. I was in no rush to leave, I wanted to spend as much time with DS as possible and just snuggle him while I did not have to worry about doing anything else. I ended up staying an extra day because everyone was sick at home. For us I think it wasnt the greatest because DH had a very hard time bonding with DS, and I think it had a lot to do with him not being there the first couple of days :(

DH stayed with me the whole time. DS1 stayed with inlaws they are his daytime caretakers and he'd stayed the night several times so it was no big deal. I wasn't in a huge rush to get home as I knew there would be no rest. I actually took advantage of DS2 sleeping in the nursery and just having them bring him to me for feedings overnight so I got some rests. IL's brought DS1 for visits each day

My parents are 5 hours away and don't want to take time off work ( :bummed: ). MIL is across the country. She's planning to come out for Christmas, I'm due a week and a half before that. So she could come early but so could the baby. Plus C doesn't see her that much so she'd probably rather have daddy there.

We are very lucky to have my parents near by to look after our first LO while we were in the hospital so DH stayed with me the whole time and that was always the plan.

I'm not sure what we would have done if we didn't have family near by to look after him. DH would have probably stayed home with him if we didn't have help.

DH was adamant about staying at the hospital with me. But my ILs were also local so we treated it like her first sleepover. I really wanted to limit the time I was away from DD1. So as soon as we were able to I asked to be discharged. We were at the hospital for approximately 24 hours; only one night.
