Yes - he filmed it both times.... It was supposed to only be from my head, but he's 6'8", so EVERYTHING was on video.

Yep! He said he wouldnt look at first, but then he was holding a leg while I was pushing, and my midwife was encouraging him to watch! Once he did, he was such a great motivation! Telling me how much progress I was making each time! I pushed for 2 hours, so I needed the encouragement!!

He watched it all, he was all about it. wasn't grossed out at all. I only pushed for less than 10 minutes so it wasn't too much up close and personal time. I didnt have anyone else in the room. That would have been weird to me.

Not my story, but my dad, who is the most squeamish person I know, had to be put on a gurney while my mom was in labor with DD2. They thought he was having a heart attack, but he really passed out from seeing blood! Fat lot of help he was ;)

He didn't, but that was because I needed him to help me stay sane and lucid. He is the only reason I was able to get through pushing with my herniated disc.

I don't know if he would have looked, though. He's pretty squeamish in general, but he also said he wanted to look. I think he glanced down a few times, but he mostly stayed with me. And thank goodness for that!

Yep, front row view, along with my mom and MIL. FIL was there, too, but he was up by my head.

I had a c-section the second time, and he said he looked about 10% of the time. I was really anxious and really needed him close, but he stood up to look a few times. He said he saw my guts. I asked him why he'd want to look and he said it was probably (hopefully) the only time he'd get to see something like that in person.

No and it makes me laugh when I think back
. When they told him to grab a leg the look on his face was priceless!! He knew he was going to hold a leg but I think when it happened it was so much closer than he'd imagined. He was a trooper though but when they asked him if he wanted to look as dd was crowning he said no...they asked are you sure, she's got hair.... He was like nope I'm good! Lol. And when they asked if he wanted to cut the cord he said no thanks

I'm not sure. I had a c-section and was so nauseated that I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to where he was or what he was doing.

When I was scrolling through the main board, I interpreted the thread title as being about tv, as in does your husband watch every tv show there is, and I was about to chime in and say omg yes...then I realized it was about childbirth :silly:

Yeah, especially during the first 2. He saw everything. (He said sometimes watching the head crown haunts him in his sleep... :-P) The third time I had more of a traumatic delivery, so he was kind of huddled in the corner while a team of doctors surrounded me, and he didn't really get to see much.

Yes...both times! The first was a little traumatizing. He watched as I pushed, but I needed an emergency C-section, and LO1 didn't do all that well coming out. He was blue, and DH said he didn't look anything like a baby as they pulled him out, so I think that just freaked him out a bit.

The second time around was a RCS, and it was far calmer. LO2 cried right away, and it was a lot better for him to watch!

My husband watched most of our C-section and told me it looked like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. "There was blood flying EVERYWHERE. On the floor, on the walls, across the nurses and doctor's scrubs and masks." Apparently I bled a lot during the procedure. He also tells people he is not mistaken that our son is his because "I physically watched them cut him out of her belly."

DS is a tad blunt. :)

Yup! He saw everything and even touched our sons's head when you could first see it. And my doula was all over everywhere taking pictures. Honestly, I wouldn't have wanted anyone in the room who wasn't comfortable seeing everything. There was a giant mirror so that I could see, so I don't know how you would have avoided seeing everything. I guess I could have asked them to put the mirror away, but I liked being able to see the progress.

My second birth was in a birthing tub, I was on my knees and he was right behind me - so there wasn't much to see. But our baby was born en caul, and he got to see that and the midwives removing her from it. I didn't get to see it at all, because I had my head buried in the side of the tub, so I'm totally jealous.

Not until the end. I had a c-section. I'm not really sure why he didn't watch...I was kind of loopy from the meds. The anesthesiologist was giving him a play by play though. I remember him telling DH to look once they pulled T out.

My entire pregnancy we talked about him staying by my head and not looking (he doesn't do well with that kind of stuff). Well, once it was time to push the nurse told him to grab a leg and he had a front row seat. Almost 4 years later and he is still slightly scarred from the experience since I had to have a forceps assist.

My sister was holding my other leg and my mom was in the room too. I didn't think I would want anyone else in there but by the time they got there it was time for me to push. In the end I was so happy they were there and got to experience that with me. Both of them had c-sections and never got to experience a vaginal birth.

Multiple other men had told him not to look, so, he didn't. I didn't want him looking either. He stayed up by my head the whole time and did most of the directed pushing (the timing and the breathing and the sets of 3). His encouraging voice was what got me through that last hour. He said I was almost passing out between pushing contractions, so even if he wanted to look, he couldn't.
There were 4 nurses and 1 OB, so they had things covered down there.
