We said yes and asked if she could tell. She said yes and I asked how sure she was. She said she was 100% sure. Said it was a girl, and pointed out the three lines of her labia. We weren't going to ask our tech about it, but at our NT scan she asked if we were going to find out the sex. We said yes. She explained the theory to us, pointed out the nub and said it looks like a girl. She was right! Girl was confirmed at 16 and 20 weeks. It's awesome but the gender detected was accurate. I guess it varies from one baby to another. Some developed their sexual organs earlier than others. I think it's hard to say "for certain" what the sex is that early on, but it's possible with the right shot of the nub. Two techs guessed "100% boy" at my 13 week u/s and they were right! Well, baby is not born yet, but you could clearly see boy parts at my 16 week and 20 week ultrasounds. </p> <p>It might be trickier to get someone to guess girl with that amount of confidence at 13 weeks, but I've seen it happen. There's a popular gender determination forum out there somewhere where techs guess on nub shots, and I believe their accuracy rate is pretty good! The ultrasound tech seemed really knowledgable. We asked. Kind of jokingly, if he could tell the gender. He explained that he couldn't at this point, but that there is a small bit of flesh near the baby's rump, and the direction it points (either up or out) can be associated with gender. Based on that, he guessed girl but said it was a 60/40 guess.</p> <p>We tried to look this up online but couldn't find anything. Did anyone else hear anything like that? </p>
