My girls are 19 months apart and in different rooms. Now that the baby is 10 weeks old, she's STTN and I kinda wish they were in the same room. I generally change the baby in her older sister's room, and they're close enough that when the big girl outgrows her clothes, I move them to the little girl's closet - it'd be so much easier to just have one closet!

The baby goes to bed 2 hours after her sister, so if they were sharing a room I could just sneak in there and lay her in the crib. They naturally wake up at the same time right now, so that wouldn't be a problem at all.

That said, I have 2 great sleepers. Any different and I'm not sure how difficult it would be. I'm sure people do it, so if you want to do it, you just make it work!

I'm due in March and they will be 17 months apart. We decided to move DD to her "big girl room" and put the new baby in the nursery. Maybe transition before the baby comes or do it during the time when the new baby is sleeping in our room. Then when the new baby is 18 months or so, move her in with her big sister and turn the nursery into a playroom.

I plan on keeping them in separate rooms unless they state otherwise. They are 20 months apart. I wouldn't have put the baby in the toddler room (baby is now 5 months, toddler just turned 2) because of their different wakeups, we would never sleep.

I had them sleep in separate bedrooms at first, and then moved them to a shared room shortly after I weaned, so when the baby was 16 months.

Mine will be 25 months apart; i'll move them into the same bedroom when #1 consistently can STTN. Not sure how long that'll take but i'd rather have them both sleep in the same room and keep all the toys and shit in another room. That's the plan, anyways.

I'm due with our second girl at the end of December. Our toddler will be about 18 months at that point. I haven't set up a second bedroom/nursery yet, knowing that our newborn will sleep in our room for the first several months. I'm torn about whether to start to set up separate bedrooms, or to have them both sleep in one room and set up another room as a baby-proofed playroom. The latter would definitely be easier since they will likely share a lot of things (being so close in age) and I could consolidate areas (e.g., one diaper changing area, instead of one in both bedrooms). It's probably best to wait a little while and see how my toddler adjusts and to determine what kind of sleeper the new baby will be. It's just driving me nuts right now to do nothing...I think the nesting instinct is totally real and I'm going crazy feeling like nothing is ready. So, my question is what has worked for other parents? Did you have a bedroom set up for your second baby right away?
