It's a new recommendation as of the last couple years. The reason to get it During Pregnancy is that it'll trigger an antibody boost in the woman, which then gets passed on to the baby and protects the baby. So, really, you're getting the shot to protect the baby even moreso than yourself. Hence the need to repeat with each pregnancy. Hubby got it at the same time at the GP, and my mum also got it at work a few weeks before I was due.
