The Tdap didn't really hurt going in but my arm was more sore and for longer than the flu one. Second pregnancy same thing, I thought I was covered from the first time since they are only 3 years apart but I guess I was supposed to do it again. It was recommended by my OB's office when I was pregnant with my first in 2012 and recommended even more strongly by my new (/different OB-we moved) doctor a few weeks ago. Both times I got the shot at a drug store. My insurance didn't cover it this time but any piece of mind is worth $60 to me. I did it bc the risks were low and I knew my LO would be around a lot of children, mostly vaccinated. But my husband also teaches at a school with a terribly vaccination rate. And my pedi said he could pass thing a onto LO even if he is vaccinated.
