Last year my mom gave out Mother's Day cards and gave one to my pregnant sil so I will likely get one from her this year too. The first time I was pregnant I got DH a father's day gift (probably how he figured out that I wanted a gift) and then I miscarried. So the next time I got pregnant mother's day was in my first trimester and I didn't want anything, I felt like it would jinx it. I only wanted a card, that's it. No flowers, no candy, no gifts, nothing, just a card. I was 35 weeks pregnant and thought for sure he would do something...but no. He didn't even wish me a happy Mother's Day and was so surprised when I burst into tears at lunchtime when it was clear he was not yet thinking of me as a mother. Poor guy, he had no idea what it meant to me.
