I think your plan sounds reasonable and not crazily restrictive... I totally agree with @snowjewelz: I want to lose some weight before I gain it! I just want to be down 10 lbs to be at my ideal starting weight. I'm healthy where I'm at as well but just feel great and am more comfortable 10 lbs less. But I find that relatively small number (a) hard to motivate for and (b) really hard to make happen. I do my fitness pal from time to time, but often feel I underestimate my calories. Any tips on motivating for that last 10?

@mrs. tictactoe: if things don't work soon we'll have a meds break coming up and I hope to follow in your weight loss footsteps. honestly right now (still on clomid) I just feel defeated and like it isn't even worth trying WW or something because it will be too much of an uphill battle. my RE thinks losing 10 lbs might help me since I have mild PCOS but I just haven't been able to make it happen.

@bhbee: Yeah, I gained with clomid before Liam, too. I'm glad I'm taking a break from that so I can get back on track.

I think you'll be ok as long as it isn't too drastic, which it doesn't sound like it is. And then you can look at every BFN month as another chance to lose weight. At least I tell myself that.

However I've had an awful time with clomid and weight. I gained 10 lbs while taking it for LO#1 - I got my baby weight off but never that 10 lbs - and now I've gained another 10 lbs while doing clomid again working on #2. I'm going to have some serious work to do on the other side if I get pregnant again.

I think as long as it's done in a safe, moderate way, it's a good thing.

I dieted during TTC. When I got pregnant, I could only stomach some foods which added to my weight gain. I gained about 25 lbs with LO's pregnancy. I lost it, then gained back weight with breastfeeding. I've been doing WW since last June. When we do TTC again, I'm sticking to WW with their food allowances. My OB wanted me to watch my weight with my first pregnancy. The next time around, I plan to.

I was dieting when I got pregnant. The only dilemma I faced was that I gained back weight fast - my doctor said to add 300 calories to what I should have been eating on a normal day (as opposed to my restricted diet) so my body was like "YAY FOOD!"

After I had Liam, it took me a while to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy, but I ended up losing it all, plus some extra and was the smallest I've been since college. I gained a tiny bit with the pregnancy we lost, but lost it again quickly without much thought or effort. Then we started TTC again and I went on clomid. Since November, I've gained 10 lbs. I'm still at a healthy weight, but I was so much more comfortable with my body when I was 10 lbs lighter. I think the weight gain is due to the season, the medication, and just not wanting to diet while TTC. Well, I finally decided it was time to make a change, so I started using my fitness pal again, which is what I used to lose all the weight last time.

Do you think it's a bad idea to diet while TTC? My daily calorie goal is 1,400, but if I exercise, I can eat more. Right now I have it set to lose 1 lb per week, but should I change it to half a pound?
