A travel crib is more like Baby Bjorn, Phil and Teds and Lotus cribs very light, compact and thin mattress that sits on the floor. Traveling by car where space, weight and size are not an issue, pack n play is fine! Cuz it's definitely a lot heavier than travel cribs. But it also might not last as long as our kid was tall and grew out of it by 1 year old. Whereas our almost 3 year old still fits in her Phil and Teds travel crib. I think it's 20% smaller that a pack and play and it a little higher off the ground. I opted for the travel crib because I thought it would be easier to travel with space wise and it a little higher up so it was easier to set her down, she use to fall asleep nursing. It worked great but she grew out of it pretty quick (she had outgrown it by a year old, she is in the 90% for hight) . Pack and Play is a brand that is a type of travel crib. Although it's so popular people, including us, call all travel cribs pack and plays. The more expensive ones are lighter, fold up smaller, and set up easier, I think, but for us I figured we could buy multiple pack and plays for different places for less than one of the fancier ones. I need something for LO to sleep in when visiting family at Christmas. A pack and play definitely seems cheaper but I'm not sure if there's a good reason. We'll be traveling by car and will have a fair amount of room if size is the main difference. </p>
