I'm in the camp of you will know if it's a contraction! :)

Though remember your second baby comes out faster than your first, so you might not want to wait too long before heading in if you have high pain tolerance.

Your uterus should be getting hard w/ contractions so it sounds like just very painful movement :(

Punches and kicks are more localized pain or discomfort. contractions are your entire uterus, so its a much larger pain....if that makes sense. You'll know! Don't worry too much :)

@Vegmama: ugh, it's like constant kicking in the crotch! But specifically started this afternoon. I didn't think about stomach getting hard, will have to start paying attention. I had 0 contractions before my induction w/1st pregnancy and am paranoid that I won't know what labor feels like!

Belly would be getting tight with contractions. And, there might be more of a pattern. Lightening vagina is totally a thing at the end of pregnancy. Like, you feel like you're getting kicked in the crotch?? It's the worst. But, it also means the right things are happening and baby is growing! :)

How do you tell the difference between a baby moving/punching/thrashing against your business and a contraction? I'm having tons of painful action down below but don't think it's timeable really, just bouts of sharp pain. Assuming this kid is the same size as DD, there's a 9 lb baby pushing against my cervix so some pain should be expected even if labor isn't close. Anyone else have this problem? (I googled and the results were all for animals giving birth...awesome)
