Physically, lo2 is bigger and takes more risks/she is fearless. She's also a better eater than lo1, and getting her to sleep is easier. I think she's a little more outgoing and joyful, whereas lo1 was super observant and a little clingier in new situations, but it's hard to really compare their personalities though as lo2 is just 1! Both of them have met physical and cognitive milestones pretty early so far, like lo1 took her first steps at 11.5m and lo2 at 10.5m. Both are loving, sweet, and smart, and total mama's girls

DD1 - Very smart, more serious, very cautious

DD2 - I wouldn't say not as smart but she doesn't have as many words as DD1 did at the same age. But her level of comprehension and also her physical skills are better. Def more social, adventurous/fearless

If the kids had spirit animals, DS's would be a dog. He's very laid-back, loves to follow me around, sleeps like a rock (once you actually get him to bed), and is a goofball. DD's would be a cat. She's cuddly but very independent, always does her own thing, loves fish, and has been known to claw people who make her mad :meh:

Lo1 is very outgoing and friendly, loves making new friends and trying new things.
LO2 is cautious of new situations, especially when LO1 is not around. Needs more love and affection. Has always had major separation anxiety.
LO3 More like LO1 but can be demanding for affection like LO2. Great at independent play and also loves trying to be like LO1&2.

DS1 (3.5) - high energy, a sensory seeker, super verbal, always on the move and active. Loves books. Great nighttime sleeper, terrible napper. Never liked nursing or pacifiers. Always wanted to be held as a baby until he could stand/walk. The type of kid who doesn't let you take a shower on maternity leave cause he wouldn't nap without being held.

DS2 (10 months) - laid back and super smiley. Way less active and not as motivated to hit gross motor milestones (but not far behind where DS1 was). Terrible nighttime sleeper, loves nursing and pacifiers. Takes good naps and doesn't freak out if you set him down or park him with a toy so you can shower. Not as verbal but much more observant. Likes to figure out how toys work.

People say they look alike but I think they look nothing alike, of course!

Let's just say that I know exactly how DS2 will react to things b/c it is the opposite of how DS1 reacted. Which sucks b/c DS1 was generally an easy going kid. .. .

My boys (3.5 and 10 mo) are probably more similar than different in the grand scheme of things. Both pretty easy going babies - good sleepers from the start. But I do notice more of their differences as they grow.

DS1 was slow with physical milestones, just seemed perfectly content to sit and let things come to him. He's very talkative but also had a lot of separation/stranger anxiety.

DS2 is much more physical and determined. He will stubbornly try to get what he wants, but he's also easy-going so he doesn't get upset when you move him away. He just goes right back. He doesn't talk as much but loves people. He's happy being on his own too, so much less needy.

It is so fun to watch them grow up and see their personalities emerge.
DS (3) was a horrible sleeper and still is. DD (1) started out a great sleeper, a little less so now but hopefully we'll get there again.
They were both early on physical milestones, but DD is so quiet, DS had 3 words by now and DD barely has 1, she's never been a babbler.
DS has always been top of the charts and DD is nearer the bottom.
DS was sick a lot his first year, 4 or 5 ear infections. DD had 2. I would probably think it'd be opposite since DS exposes her to all his germs.
DD is a cuddler which I love.

My kiddos are vastly different in the sleep and eating dept but pretty similar personality wise. My 4 yo DD is easy going, extrovert, eats everything, great sleeper since 2 months. My 1 yo DS is also easy going but needs way more attention than DD did, he is also an extrovert and quick to smile similar to DD but he is a terrible eater. He is picky and will eat something like crazy one day and then hate it the next. DS also still wakes once a night where as DD STTN at 2 mos. DS is more challenging but that's bc DD was so easy!

Mine have very different personalities and love languages! My oldest's (5yo) love language is definitely words of affirmation. He's easy going and he's willing to try anything once and praise is the best way to get him to do stuff! My youngest's (3yo) love language is physical touch. He loves hugs and snuggles and just being held or sitting in your lap. And he is STUBBORN! He has to do everything himself! Potty training was when this really showed itself! I couldn't help him or encourage him or anything! I had to just sit back and let him figure it out on his own! He's also very independent. Even as a baby, he would be perfectly happy doing his own thing. My oldest was always clingy and constantly wants attention, but my youngest doesn't seem to care about that at all!

Mine have fairly different personalities, but physically multiple strangers have asked if they’re twins (they’re 26 months apart!).

B: has always had a rough time with sleep, fairly easygoing and laid back, for a long time didn’t like to play by himself, didn’t hit the terrible twos until 3.5, gentle and sensitive.
‪
W: the world’s greatest sleeper, stubborn, mischevious, pretty good at entertaining himself, hit the terrible twos at 20 months, flings himself around like the world is made of pillows.

DS1 is 3.5. A bit high strung/emotional, introverted, easily overstimulated, very inquisitive, crazy good memory, higher sleep needs, extremely routine driven. Loud, verbal, tenacious. Loves music. Tall, skinny, not a big eater, but eats a good variety. Dark hair.

DS2 is 22 months. Very happy and sweet, but has that honey badger streak. He doesn’t care what people think, he just does what he wants. Not really sure if he’s introverted or extroverted - probably leans towards a more social introvert in that he doesn’t get as overwhelmed in social situations as DS1, but really could care less about being around people. He doesn’t enjoy being alone as much as DS1. Overall he’s more laid back - if he is tired, he doesn’t have a complete meltdown like DS1. Loves to eat, but hates vegetables and eats a select variety of fruit. Mostly wants carbs. Light hair, lower sleep needs. Loves books. Disciplining doesn’t work as well for him because again, he does what he wants.

Mine are very different - sleep needs, how wild/physical/when they hit physical milestones are the big ones. Though the introverted one is more clingy, the wild one has always been so physically and now verbally affectionate, which is interesting and surprised me.

Though we can see each of them looks more like one of us, people always tell me they look so much alike.

Actually the differences that are pretty clearly innate make me feel better about my parenting. It proved to me that to a large degree they just come a certain way and all you can do is learn how to deal with it!

My kids are pretty young- 28mo and 10mo but they have been VERY different so far

DS (28mo): very outgoing, was very quick with all his milestones (full walking by 10mo, talking a lot early on etc), is very friendly with strangers, good sleeper, doesn’t stop moving (hated to be held as a baby because he wanted to roll around, crawl, now run)

DD (10mo)- VERY introverted, high stranger anxiety (has never been able to be held by anyone but me and DH), on the slower end for milestones (slow to crawl, at 10mo is just now pulling up but not standing), when with me she is very chill- would be held all day if I would let her. So opposite from DS

It will be interesting to see how they grow

My kids are so different. In every way!

DS is wild. Low sleep needs but sleeps well. Dark hair. Dark eyes. Tall and lanky. Chubby happy baby. Wanted to sit alone, didn't love being held a lot. Loved BFing. Didn't love solids at first. Early talker. No soothers.

DD is sassy!! Also wild. Super light hair and eyes. Grumpy as a baby - so fussy. Wanted to be held all the time. Loves soothers. Tiny little peanut. Loves food. Wasn't super into BFing. Loves to sleep in. Doesn't talk much at 20 months

Sooo different. Curious what number 3 will be like! 😵

My kids have really different personalities! In a nutshell, DD1 is higher energy, stronger personality, generally less easy going, and has always had a harder time sleeping, but a super early talker and incredibly bright. DD2 has thankfully been much more laid back from about a week or two old, has been easier going with sleep and generally more go with the flow- but she isn't talking anywhere near as much as DD1 was at this age. Even in looks- DD1 looks so much like DH (and gets her stubborness from him) and DD2 looks like me and is more similar to me personality wise.

Funny enough, they both started walking at almost exactly the same age- 13 months. They are 4.5 and 2 years old.

I was always so curious how different my kids would be when we started down the road to having children . I have a 4 year old and 3 month old, both boys. So far the big differences:

* LO1 is high sleep needs, LO2 is way on the low end. A 30 minute nap is his thing :crying:
* LO1 had zero interest in putting anything in his mouth, ever. LO2 already wants everything straight to his mouth and has to have a pacifier.
* LO1 was always on the low end of the curve physically and laid back. LO2 is way ahead of the game by starting to roll at 12 weeks and is so active!

Obviously there are physical differences, but what big differences did you see or have been interested to see with your kids?
