You can see detail of the wood, but really just looks like a crappy paint job. The dresser finish feels more fragile. DH thinks it's pretty much the same. The crib is smooth finish like the crib. Stained white you can see wood grain and would not match. Our coffee table is white stain which is stained wood. So, the coffee table shows more variations, whereas the white dresser is a more polished look. The white stain nicks and chips much easier, and I will stick to white in the future. Let me know if you want more pics.
