I got another smiley positive today and I know the lines don't matter with digitals but it was super dark. So, I think I just retested too soon or with urine that wasn't concentrated enough yesterday.

@Shantuck: Yikes! I feel so preoccupied with holding my pee long enough to take a OPK. That seems like a lot of work - but I love information so I'm still tempted!

@daniellemybelle: I hated it! I was doing acupuncture due to some fertility issues and my acupuncturist insisted on it. When I went on vacation, she gave me permission to not chart and while it sounds like no big deal, it was so indulgent to not have to wake up at 6 a.m. and take my temp before jumping out of bed for at least a few days!

@delight: Thanks! :)

@Smurfette: I'm hoping I didn't ovulate too quick because DH didn't get home from a work trip until very late last night! Wish we could have been trying in the days leading up but it is what it is.

@winniebee: Interesting! We didn't try for LO so this is all so new to me.

@Shantuck: Wow! Temping/charting seems the most accurate way to go but also like so much work! And I feel like I would obsess too much. We'll see how this cycle goes though. I might have to give in!

After my miscarriage, my surges suddenly got really short and I would have to test twice a day every day in order to catch it. I would get really frustrated that I didn't appear to be ovulating but I tracked my BBT and my temp would rise so I think I was just missing my surge. In fact, with my current pregnancy, I never caught my surge with my twice a day testing but clearly I ovulated...

@daniellemybelle: before DS1 my surge was really short. Less than 24 hours maybe more like 12 ? So I tested twice a day and often got a positive at night and negotiable in the morning.

@daniellemybelle: I think it is within 24 hours. But I think it varies for each person.

We had sex Mon-Fri, got the positive Fri morning. We didn't even bother on Sat, we were tired!

@daniellemybelle: I usually ovulated 24-36 hours after my surge so today and tomorrow are likely prime time for you  good luck!

@travellingbee: Oh, huh! I didn't even think of that!

@Smurfette: Interesting - so if my surge is over does that mean I'm ovulating now?

@daniellemybelle: you could have had your surge in the morning so you caught that end of it.

I have a short surge so I had to test twice a day

I believe the digital ones measure your surge by comparing the tests to each other so taking two digital in a day might mess that up....?

@MrsB2012: Oh, no! I have taken them since CD10 and it's CD16. It's my first positive. I'll edit the post.

Your positive one was the first one you took? Maybe you just caught it at the end of your surge, not the beginning?

I got my first ever positive OPK (Clearblue regular digital) today and I just couldn't help myself - I took another one. It was negative. Wondering why? Was my surge really that fast? Does this mean I've ovulated or I'm going to ovulate really soon? (I don't temp/chart by the way.) If it makes any difference (I don't think it does) the blue lines on the sticks looked exactly the same both times.

EDIT TO ADD: I have been taking the tests since CD10 and it's CD16.

The smiley was at about 3pm and I just took another one at 7pm. I peed at least once in there so maybe my pee just wasn't concentrated enough?

We are going to try tonight and for the next few days regardless but I'm just curious what's going on. Now I know why people get the cheapie sticks because it's so addictive!
