We gifted one to my parents and DH and I each have them at work. I like it. I'm not the most energy conservative person though either (my laptop is ALWAYS on).

My only complaint is that pictures don't auto-rotate like they would on your computer. So anything that is taken vertical (landscape) you have to use an app to specifically rotate the file. That's been the case for the two different brands we have. The one DH and I have are Phillips from Best Buy that were a good deal pre-holiday last year.

When we got married we gifted our parents each a Kodak digital frame (discontinued). But basically it allowed us to email photos directly so it was nice for our tech-challenged parents. They worked well for a while then got a bit wonky with the wifi. So then, after DD was born, we got them each MyPixStar digital frames. They've been great! We took back one of the Kodak frames and keep it in our kitchen area. The wifi doesn't work but it plays the usb fine. Our kids really enjoy when they pass by it and see their pics, past vacations, etc.

Does it use a lot of energy? I'm guilty of leaving my desktop computer turned on everyday, haven't really tested how much I'll save on electricity if I turn it off.
I guess I can unplug it for the night or when nobody is in the house.
I just wonder if I'll really make good use of it. As some of you mentioned, I might actually get lazy updating pics into it. How else do people walk down memory lane with all the pics we take?
With my first born, I made photo books, got prints for albums etc, but there's only so much I can print out and fit into albums. We have lots and lots of pictures.

DH and I have one because we got married months before our reception, and wanted to be able to show our wedding photos at our reception on the guest book table.

It's loaded with our wedding photos, but we haven't really updated it since then. It's a bit of a pain to update. I'm assuming when LO comes along maybe we'll be more inclined? but it is nice to see our wedding photos more often. And guests enjoy it.

It also acts as a sort of night light in our living room.

I have one but I stopped using it because I thought it seemed kind of energy wasteful to have it turned on/plugged in all the time! :-P

I know in this world of ipads, tablets and portable laptops, not many of us think about getting a digital photo frame. I put on a shuffling wallpaper on my computer. The problem is, I don't stay seated at my computer very often anymore nor do I look at the wallpaper when I do.
Whenever I happen to look back at old pictures, it brings back so many memories and sparks up good conversations.
Does anyone own a digital photo frame? And do you love it? Please share brands and model if you have one to recommend! ♡
