Yes, my supply took a dip, so I started pumping more again and drinking the tea. I did notice that nursing sessions were shorter more so because he got way more efficient at nursing.

@rachiecakes: Yes! She just started that. The only problem is that she always has a cold and the only food she offers is the stuff she's already drooled all over. Blehhhh! LOL I love her and I don't want to turn her down when she makes those sweet gestures but I'm tired of getting sick.

@Weagle: I would think about putting aolids closer to after a nursing session. Then it will have been a good 2-3 hrs since any food before nursing again.

@BabyBoecksMom: has she started to feed you? I have the best time sharing meals with DS. He enthusiastically goes "mm-mmm" and then holds out food for me to try and goes "mmmm" when I eat from his hand. It's the sweetest thing ever!

@Weagle: My supply took a dip when DD started eating solids, but like @RachieCakes, she had decided she didn't want to nurse anymore. I continued to exclusively pump until 10 months and then I had enough. It was definitely sad to cut our bonding time short, but I still bond with her every time I give her a bottle.

@TurtleDoves: It's not super important, but she likes them a lot and was definitely ready.

@Thehistoryofus: Typically, solids and nursing are about an hour or two apart. Maybe I should change that. I do think BLW might be a good solution. I wanted to do that from the get-go and then got scared. I feel like she can handle it much better now.

@rachiecakes: I'm a SAHM, but sometimes I feel like she's pretty indifferent about nursing. I hope that when we do wean it will be as obvious as your LO. I think I'll have a much easier time if she makes it obvious that she's done.

@Weagle: are you a WOHM? DS has been really into solids from the get go and between his enthusiasm for solid food and me not being with him throughout the day for the work week, he slowly stopped wanting to nurse. For a period of time we were nursing throughout the nights but around 9 months he would only wake once to nurse and by 11 months had stopped altogether. While I was sad that our breastfeeding time was over, he very vocally told me he preferred food and didn't want to.
(we mostly did BLW - around 4 months he started crying for my food when I would eat in front of him, of course he was too small but we started giving him a few things here and there a few months later and now he will eat absolutely anything)

@Weagle: Do you nurse first and then offer solids? That is an easy way to make sure baby fills up on good BM before eating solids.

Also, what kind of solids are you giving? Maybe try BLW where the baby determines how hungry they are. Parents tend to overfeed purees.

Also, think about cutting out grains/fillers in the food. Only feed pure solids like vegetables.

And like you are doing, keep nursing as much as you can. Drink lots of water and you should be able to make it to a year. Remember, it is not natural for babies to wean before a year. They may go on a bit of a strike, but if you want to make it to a year you can push through. http://kellymom.com/bf/normal/babyselfwean/

I felt low at 9 months but was able to increase my supply. I work out of the home so that was part of my solution. I nursed constently when I was home. So a nursing holiday may be in order. I drank mother milk tea and lots if water. We are at 20 months and if he had a choice, he wouldn't be weaning.

@Weagle: Is it super important to you to have LO on solids? I know that may be controversial/personal choice but the lady I nannied for awhile back didn't start her LOs on solids until 9-10 months because she felt that she needed that bonding with them by breastfeeding and she felt (correctly!) that her BM was better than (nutritionally) any solid on earth.

LO is 7.5 months old, EBF, and now eating solids. Until recently, I've had a bit of an oversupply. Now I feel like LO isn't eating as much when she nurses, and I'm definitely not pumping as much. She doesn't eat a ton of solids, so I don't think that's the issue. She has always been an efficient eater, so I'm not equating time with the amount eaten. I'm still feeding her every 4 hours, or sooner if she wants it. I really want to make it to one year, but I'm scared I'll dry up! Is this a silly fear? It doesn't help that my mom has repeatedly told me how I self weaned after starting solids and LO has been so much like me so far that she probably will too...
