@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I really like the idea of the second one, but not the random circles pattern. I think they'll look dated quickly.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I like the second chair best but I don't know much about staging :) I just think it's really really cool and could see it at the head of the table.

@oliviaoblivia: The damask chairs are out. No fun patterns for us. I just found these on Drexel Heritage and Thomasville. What do you think? These retailers offer some customization, so I can get the wood in the right color. Also, part wood may not be so bad like @Thou: suggested. The one with a solid wood back was shown online as a side chair with oval back chairs similar to mine as the head chairs.

I'd start with picking the rug before new chairs. If you go with the damask chair it will limit your choices down the line.
I'd also try to stick with the shape of your side chairs. I find that mixing up the back shape makes it look like you've pulled the hairs in from another room. I think a similar shape, plus arms, different coordinating fabric is best for end chairs.

I feel like the linen color would be tough to match (and it would bother me a ton if there was a difference in the texture or color) so I would go with a print.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I like the first two. The Aztec-ish print is unexpected but so neat.. And I love the studded but formal feel of the second one!

Super helpful!

@photojane: Thanks. I found one I liked, but DH vetoed. Bold patterns are not his style guess.

@zippylef: Thanks. Two of your picks got a "hmph," but no veto. I call that a starting point. The gray is less formal, which brings the formality down a peg in that room- good thing.

Something like this could be fun. They're 46" tall, so they'd add some "weight" to the room. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Safavieh-Deco-Bacall-Velvet-Side-Chair/4270045/product.html?refccid=RUTYTYBKJOMLL3CI65PWWS36AE&searchidx=57

Same as last one, but grey http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Grey-Wing-Design-Dining-Chair/6818097/product.html?refccid=BKRAGAWR27CK3YSA5CEYBMMKZA&searchidx=374

Just a few I saw. Im having trouble finding a print that's "neutral and subtle" lol

@T.H.O.U.: Thanks for the bump. No, the original chairs that were sold with the table were wood backs and cushion seats. I liked these better with the cushion backs. An all upholstered chair for the hostess chairs is what I'd like.

Our new floors in that room will be dark wood like the furniture. I may remove the rug altogether.

Need some help from you stylish bees!

Last year when I bought our dining table and side chairs I thought finding the perfect host chairs would be easy. I like the look of the host/ end chairs being different from the others, but I haven't found host chairs I like.

We added in chairs from the kitchen table last year for Thanksgiving, but this year we are having more guests and need more seating.

Please, please help me find coordinating chairs over 40" high, in fabric, and with a max price tag of $500/ each.

Here's a pic of the room. The current chairs are linen seats with chenille backs. I am open to subtle, neutral pattern or even blue. The drapes are blue and pewter threading.
