@YogiRunner: I’m curious too. Do you have a tight fit? You can of course install it (do the LATCH or seat belt) but in my SIL’s car we could move it a ton. If you have any tricks for a tight install pass them this way! She’s hoping the top tether will help but mine was in super tight without the tether (I didn’t know you could use that RF oops), so I feel like that wouldn’t make it any tighter.

@YogiRunner: I’m sure you CAN install a Diono (like it’s not impossible) but from what I have read it is incompatible, So maybe not a good installation? I will ask a CPST!

@QBbride: I’m so confused then, how am I driving around with one installed right now? Let me know if you find the link, I want to be sure it’s not unsafe or anything (thank you!)

So yeah Dionos and Subaru’s are incompatible rear facing. It’s to do with their seat bight and Dionos rear facing boot that don’t match up properly. Cleks are often recommended for Subarus!

I’m almost 100% sure that Dionos are incompatible with the Subaru Forester. I’ll try to find the link! (I’m not a car seat tech but I have a lot of friends who are).

@YogiRunner: Maybe I’ll have my husband try. It’s completely possible my SIL and I just aren’t strong enough to push it down in the Subaru’s weird seats.

@Becky: nope, we just don't like the diono and we've had it in two different vans, so the install should be easy for it! i know YMMV since people seem to like them!

cleks are pricey, but we bought on sale and but we've used one for 5 years and will pass it down to baby sister in december so we'll easily get the full 9 years out of it! and i'm just a fan because they're slim so we can fit 3 across.

sale on them now! https://www.albeebaby.com/clek-fllo-convertible-car-seat-fl17u1-shadow.html

if it's not working, can they just return it? we also used a combi cocorro for a while, but the height limits are so low that we only use them for alternative seats when needed instead of our main seats.

I have a RF Diono in my 2016 Outback and it fits just fine. DH installed it though so I’m totally unaware of the details of getting it in!

@birdofafeather: I really like my Diono, and we have one FF in my MIL car and it installs fine. It’s just RF in a Subaru that seems to be a problem. Does your MIL have a Subaru? If there’s a trick to get it installed that would solve the problem. If not, the Cleks are too expensive and I haaaate my Maxi Cosi so wouldn’t recommend it to her.

My mom has a diono and we kinda hate it. We have two cleks in our outback and are waiting to install a maxi visit mico as well when baby 3 shows up. The cleks (foonf and fllo) have installed well RFing and FFing with latch and seatbelt install.

I feel really bad because I recommended a Diono car seat to my SIL and now they can’t get it installed in their Subaru Forester or my MIL’s Outback because of the way the crease at the base of the seat is (in most cars the feet stick into the crease, but in Subarus the crease is really high so the feet just stick into the seat). Anyone have success installing a Diono in a Subaru? Ours fits so nicely in my CRV! And if not, any recs for car seats that install nicely in Subarus? TIA!
