@MsLipGloss: @MrsTiz: @mrbee: Also, it could just be that she has already planned/promised to give her story to another source (Oprah or whatever) and she just couldn't say anything.

Maybe she wasn't prepared to say anything about it on Wendy William's show. It might have taken her off guard, or she was in an emotional state that she felt she couldn't talk about it.

@mrbee: Don't get me wrong, I totally understand her desire for privacy, but on something as personal as that I just think it should have been kept fully personal or at least tucked away with the response "That isn't something I feel comfortable talking about just yet". I don't want to know all the gory details

@MrsTiz: I guess we just disagree then. I don't think of privacy as an "all or nothing" proposition. Just because she's a musician and wrote a song about it, I don't think she has to necessarily answer all of our questions about the song and the issues that were raised.

I think that over time, she may very well open up about the details when she is ready. It sounds like maybe that show with Wendy Williams wasn't the time or place for her... for now, maybe she's a musician expressing herself, like @Dandelion: mentioned?

@sorrycharlie: I agree. Any kind of abuse is hard and it does take time to be comfortable talking about it. Maybe in time she'll open up to it. She is taking her steps and for her is singing about it. Just because she sings about it, does not mean we need to know every.single.detail about it. Everyone (even celebrities) should get some privacy.

I do hope she finds the courage to open up at some point in the future.

@mrbee: By acting like she never even mentioned it. As a musician, it should be common sense that if you make a song intended for the world to hear, you *will* get questions about it. To brush it off and not want to talk about it makes me feel like "why wouldn't you just write the song to vent and then keep it for yourself?" now she has to sing it onstage everynight, which I imagine is more painful than talking about it once?
@runsyellowlites: explained it more eloquently than I can :)

I don't feel like she needs to get specific, that's pretty personal. If she chose to that is one thing, but you can support a cause without having to give your own details.

I think if you're going to make a song about it then you better be ready to talk about it. Just logically, I wouldn't tell a woman who is experiencing abuse that I know how that feels & then act like it's none of her business to know how... I'm the one that brought it up.

@MrsTiz: Dealing with it through a song is approaching it on her own terms . . . instead of having someone demand that you elaborate further (which can feel abusive to someone who has been in that situation).

I don't think she needs to explain further . . . sometimes talking about a situation has the effect of making people to re-live it, and in so doing, they feel traumatized all over again.

I wonder why she would be like that? Obviously she wasn't scared to talk about it because she wrote her comeback song about it, knowing she would have to sing it a million times.

Abuse is abuse no matter what the type is. If her goal was to empower victims and promote awareness she's doing an awful job..

I think sometimes writing the song lyrics is the way to get your emotions out. It's really hard for some people to talk out their emotions, so they use their art to say what is on their heart.

Kelly Rowland was chatting with Wendy Williams about her song Dirty Laundry in which she sings about an abusive relationship. The lyrics suggest the abuse was physical and emotional. Wendy asked her to explain how she was abused and Kelly said she didn't want to go into that and it didn't matter. I'm confused, if the goal is to bring awareness why clam up?

I was in an unhealthy relationship that was physically abusive at times. I think it does matter and to just leave the story on wax is doing a great disservice. What do you think?
