@mrssunglasses - I feel like that a lot on the web!

We were told by the tech who was VERY confident at our 12+4 scan that LO is a girl. She told us we can re-confirm at our 16 week appt. But from what we've shown our friends, everyone thinks the tech is right and that our scan was pretty clear!

P.S. I've had friends who've gotten gender told at 10, 11, 12, and 13 weeks, all accurate. FX'd mine is too!

@hilsy85: Ya, i think it depends on the technician. I know its something pretty common here in Quebec but majority of the people I tell them about knowing the gender at 12-13 weeks look at me like I'm nuts.

I had an elective u/s at 16 weeks and was told butterbean was a girl. Seemed pretty obvious, even to me --not a nub in sight! I had an amnio a couple of days later (long story), and the results confirmed that we are, in fact, having a baby girl.

The sonographer (for the elective u/s) had awesome equipment, and told us she was at least 90% sure it was a girl. We also got an early 3D peek. We plan to go back at 26ish weeks for another elective u/s for more 3D pics.

@SorryCharlie: did you find out what you're having?

@lemondrop: Yes ours will be done by the same tech that did the NT scan, DH just feels that way because it takes place at my doctors office! He is open to the 3d/4d places, it's just not his 1st choice...if we find out, which we are leaning toward but not 100%.. I'm just on board with his plan because Id rather only have to pay a copay than also pay those places, and I really like the tech that they have at my doc's. I don't love the 3d images anyway! (don't know if they use that at my doc's ofc)

@googly-eyes: we did both the 3D/4D boutique scan and a scan at my doctor's office- both were done by ultrasound technicians, not the doctor. The 3D/4D tech told us at the beginning of the scan that she is not able to tell us anything health related on the record. She was upfront from the start about her credentials and what she could and couldn't do.

Honestly I had a better experience at the 3D/4D scan, she took way more time with us and showed us more than the scan at the doctor's office, which felt very rushed. We definitely felt like we got what we paid for.

I guess I am fairly lucky. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage at 8 weeks...so that was my first u/s. I had another at 10 weeks and again at 12 weeks, where we got the gender reveal! I have held off on getting anything since it was so early, but my 18 week a/s is on Monday...so we will see if the gender was correct! (And this was on a 10+ year old machine at a doctor's office)

We found out at 13 weeks from out genetics ultrasound that our second is also a boy! We had mentioned that at Boy1's previous genetics ultrasound, he wasn't cooperating and a doctor had to be called in and the doc said that it was a boy and at the 20 weeks anatomy scan, boy1 was confirmed to be a boy! The technician showed us the money shot for Boy 2.

This post is making me so tempted to go earlier! But DH says he doesn't trust those places, he'd rather hear it from the doctor's office. I think he has this hole in the wall scary fake doctor image of them, lol. But since I have an appointment next week and the scan where we should be able to tell gender the week or two after that, I'm going to at least wait and see if DH can make that appointment. If not we are going to do a 3D/4D. Good luck, can't wait to hear your update!

We found out the gender at 16/17 weeks (thought I was 16 going into the u/s but they dated LO at 17 weeks). We learned the gender that day and LO was actually not cooperating on the actual gender scan at 20 weeks so it's a good thing our u/s true to look at the first u/s (she said she couldn't when she thought I was 16 weeks but after dating decided she could try. I'm not sure how 5 days makes that big of a difference lol). Good luck!

We found out our baby's gender at 15 weeks , almost 16 weeks. My sonographer was sort of hesitant to tell us because a lot of people go out and buy a ton of stuff and she didn't want to be wrong! She said 20 weeks is obviously much more accurate, but she was PRETTY SURE we were having a girl. Sure enough, she was a girl then and she's a girl now!

We went in at 16 weeks to one of those 3d/4d places and he told us without a doubt it was a girl. He said he doesn't even guess unless he's 100% and showed us the pictures that showed it. We were pretty confident but a little nervous. At our 20 week scan they also said it was a girl though so it seems to have been right!

My BIL and SIL went in at 17 weeks with my nephew and he wouldn't cooperate though so they had to find out at 20 weeks (where he was very obviously a boy).

That sounds like a lot of fun! I say, if you find out and then LO decides to "switch" later on, it will eventually just be a fun story - "Your mom and dad were so excited to tell us you were a girl but you were really a boy!" And the chances of that are low so I would go for it, unless you have a really strong preference and will have a hard time re-adjusting.

I was so freaked.out they'd be wrong and I found out at 20 weeks. But if you're not a worry wart like me that will be awesome, and an awesome birthday present! We found out for.my birthday too and registered on my birthday. I don't recommend doing that. Registering was so overwhelming and too much walking. Not fun for your birthday.

The genders of our babies were pretty clear at my first anatomy ultrasound at 16 weeks exactly, and have been confirmed at 19 and 20 week appts. I will say that it was more obvious at the later scans, but the tech was still very confident at 16w.

We found out the baby's gender at 13 weeks at a 3D ultrasound place and it was a great experience. The tech very knowledgable and told us that male/female parts were very similar at that stage however their we're tiny differences that only the trained eye could spot and that if she wasn't 110% sure she wouldn't tell us and would just bring us back later in for free.. She said she knew right away that the baby was a girl however didnt want to tell in until she has confirmed from 3 other angles.

We were skeptical and didnt buy anything pink until after our A/S where the dr confirmed she was a girl. When we told him we went to a 3D place earlier, he said that the 3D places are almost always right since they their equipment is very advanced.

For $70 the early gender determination was definitely worth it for us. I'm REALLY impatient ;) my coworker a due couple weeks after me was told girl as well which was confirmed at her A/S.

Goodluck!

We found out at 15 weeks 1 day at Stork Vision, one of our local boutiquey 3D/4D places- I couldn't wait until our anatomy scan at 19 weeks, and I just wanted to see the baby!

We got very clear shots and it was easy to see that he was a boy. Of course he was being very agreeable and was in a good position- that you can't guarantee. Well worth the money, it was a great experience for us! I watched the video they gave us of the ultrasound a million times.

Sounds like the best birthday present ever to me!

ETA: Our 3D place had much better pictures than the 3D at our doctor's office too- according to my doc's ultrasound tech, the 3D place has a better machine.
