I used Dapple Baby products with a bottle brush and loved them. I also wiped with the Medela Wipes in between pumping sessions, and used the steam bags pretty frequently. Those things were a lifesaver.

We originally used regular Dawn or Seventh Generation but I tried Dapple and found that it really did work well on bottles and pump parts for getting the milk and such off better so we started using Dapple for baby things. I really don't think you can go wrong.

I use Mrs. Myers dish soap. I never thought about using something baby-specific... and those steam bags sound great! I've never used them but I also get a film when I boil pump parts.

I use dish soap but switched to a "soft hands" variety because my hands were so dry and chapped. I found that boiling leaves a film on my stuff - maybe because we have hard water? I use a microwave steam tray that I like.

@Mrs Green Grass: That is really interesting!

We used Dawn but boiling was part of our routine as well.

The lc in the hospital said the Medela rep actually recommended Johnson's baby shampoo. So that's what I've always used for pump parts.

@dagret: @hellobeeboston: sometimes when I wash and dry I will notice a slight film on the inside of bottles. I always figured I didn't rinse well and would re wash. Now I'm wondering if it is because I'm not using the proper soap !!!

I recently saw dish soap specifically for items that come into contact with breast milk ??? I've just been using the Palmolive pure and clear for LO bottles and pump cleaning - should I be using this special stuff ??
